Sorry shamelessly posting for medical issue!

I was diagnosed yesterday with cellulitis on my outer ear. The GP told me to go to hospital if it got any worse/spread but said he thinks they'd caught it early enough and prescribed 2 weeks of antibiotics.

I have only taken three of the tablets so far as I obviously only got them yesterday morning.

I'm a bit worried as it's on my face. I feel very tired but unable to sleep, hot and have a throbbing headache and feel incredibly thirsty but unable to quench it not sure if it's linked or not.

The first picture was this morning when I went to the doctor. The second is now. It's spread to the bottom of my ear and my neck just underneath that now feels tender and sore.

The reason I'm reluctant is firstly because I know I've not really given the antibiotics chance to work yet and secondly I have my young baby here. Going into hospital now would mean waking family to come and stay with him in the middle of the night.

Should I wait and give the ABs more chance to work or?

@karalou2

Could be allergic to the antibiotics but hope you've got it sorted by now. Have you actually seen your ear? I think I'd have been on the phone to GP or A&E before asking for advice on here though!

From the OP - second line of the OP actually!

Why do people bother posting when they can't even be bothered to read the OP, let alone the rest of the thread. And could actually be putting peoples' lives at risk.

Lucky3333 · 27/01/2022 10:08

My mum's been brill she's looking after my son today. And tbf A&E have been too. Triage took one look and sent me straight for IV antibiotics.

111 had hoped to get me into an ENT clinic as they thought it would be faster but they ended up saying they couldn't deal with it so only got to A&E at 9am and I'm in a bed with my cannula waiting for my antibiotics already so can't complain.

So glad you're being sorted! Try and rest. I imagine you're shattered trying to get any rest last night with a throbbing head.

hughfurrywit · 27/01/2022 10:26

So glad you're at hospital - you've totally done the right thing and you should be better very soon.

Any idea how it happened?

I hope you are much better this morning I g Lucky, and that you get to go home!

Lucky3333 · 28/01/2022 11:16

Unfortunately not, I'm being transferred to another hospital and needing to stay at least another night apparently 😔

I'm more devastated about being unable to see my son for potentially a few more days tbh. He's only a baby.

Lucky3333 · 28/01/2022 11:18

A lovely nurse is letting me run outside and give him a quick cuddle before I get transferred. But I don't think I can see him again after that until I go home, I'm so upset.

0palescent · 28/01/2022 11:25

I'm sorry, OP, that's hard on you with a little baby. Fingers crossed the antibiotics work quickly, and you get home again soon.

Mumdiva99 · 28/01/2022 11:31

Bless you. That is so tough on you. But you need to get well. Then you will be able to look after him again. For now focus on you. (Granny will have a lovely bonding time with baby).

Seeline · 28/01/2022 13:26

Sorry you're having such a rough time OP. I'm sure your little one is being spoilt rotten by granny though!

Wednesdayafternoon · 28/01/2022 14:10

Oh bless you OP. Has there been any improvement :(
