I'm 38 and I swear I'm going through the peri-menopause. I'm hot most of the time and if not, freezing. There's no inbetween! Life is either sweetness and light or i'm raging with hormones! Again, no inbetween, I'm constantly fatigued, and my memory is almost non-existent. It's not fair! It might be something else, but whatever it is, I don't like it!

I am just about to start HRT thank god. I am 41 but been suffering probably a couple of years.
Night swears leading up to my period. Severe anxiety - never suffers previous, hot flushes, rage, migraines, exhaustion proper fatigue. More facial hair - think more hairs on chin 😂. Itchy skin. Brain fog lack of motivation weight centering around my middle despite me not putting on weight!

Keep pushing for help

Onthedowns · 25/01/2022 22:21

Oh my periods are extremely erratic and very light now too. I have very little patience or interest in things it's really horrendous so i sympathise greatly

Icecreamandapplepie · 25/01/2022 22:21

Anxiety. Tiredness. Aching muscles, joints and tiredness. I'm 43.

Went on hrt a few months ago and feeling so much better

Icecreamandapplepie · 25/01/2022 22:21

Did I mention tiredness? Wink

crazyjinglist · 25/01/2022 22:26

Poor sleep, digestive issues, slight brain fog, very heavy but still regular periods except one random totally missed one a couple of months ago. Itchy skin, thinning hair. I'm 50. No hot flushes or night sweats (yet), thank goodness, and no psychological symptoms (rage, anxiety etc).

Justnotsureaboutit2021 · 25/01/2022 22:45

Moodiness, interrupted sleep, digestive issues, brain fog, thinning hair, occasional burn ups when I feel like I might spontaneously combust. I have recently given up gluten and this month I am finding these symptoms much less so, plus I am actually losing the weight gained due to peri so I am hoping that my continued avoidance of gluten products will prevent things from getting worse on the peri front.

Justnotsureaboutit2021 · 25/01/2022 22:46

Should also add, that my libido is up and down and like a yo-yo. When its up its through the roof (lucky DH) but when its down, I am contemplating divorce and can't even bear to be in the same room as DH. It's bizarre...

Stillgoings · 25/01/2022 22:46

It started with my cycles getting shorter and periods getting heavier. That lasted a couple of years..I ended up anaemic..my brain wasn't functioning at all..I made so many mistakes at work, don't know if that was menopause or anaemia. Now I'm on hardly any periods and very light if they do show up. I feel sharper in myself and no mood swings but I am having raging hot flushes, I sweat at night. I'm hairy of face but thinning on my head. My main issue is discomfort in urethra and vagina and UTI type symptoms. I am 48 and have just started taking vagifem for it. It's all pretty grim

blyn72 · 25/01/2022 22:49

You are quite young though it does happen to younger women.

The first thing to do is visit your doctor and have blood tests to find out what is happening.

During my perimenopause period I had flushes but I felt as though I was on the verge of having a new life which would be better, and I was. There is light at the end of the tunnel.

mdinbc · 25/01/2022 23:00

I was in perimenopause at 38, and was menopause at 42. I had the most severe hot flushes... I told DH that one day he would just find my slippers on the floor and a poof of smoke on the ceiling.

Other than that though, no other symptoms that disturbed me. Perhaps my temper was shorter, but then I had 3 teenagers at the time.

Looking back I should have gone on hormones because the hot flushes lasted for years. When I was looking into it, there were reports published of higher rates of breast cancer, so I opted to go without.

Mossstitch · 25/01/2022 23:13

Erratic periods started at 43,initially went 10 weeks between two. Farther on I'd get two in three weeks til I finally had one with 6 months in between at 49 when they stopped. About 46-47 had some aching, sore joints in particular knees and some hot flushes which weirdly only started from the neck up. Never severe enough to need treatment other than buying a very thin cotton quilt as couldn't take a duvet.

Cupcakesandjam · 25/01/2022 23:16

Periods stopped. Nothing else.

OhWhyNot · 25/01/2022 23:23

Mid sentence I will forget a word a simple work

Tiredness and bouts of insomnia this really impacts me I just feel I am years older if I haven’t slept properly for a few days (I really shouldn’t be on my phone now)

My periods are heavier and still regular as clockwork

Trying to get an appointment with my GP for HRT

SingleHandSue · 25/01/2022 23:31

I’m thinking about going to my GP to see if I’m peri-menopausal.

I’m 41 and have very, very light albeit regular periods (lasting half a day) mood swings, anxiety, complete loss of libido, thinning hair and the most awful brain fog. Like pp I can forget words half way through a sentence, and I seem to have forgotten how to have a conversation, words literally fail me.

mynamesnotMa · 25/01/2022 23:43

None I'm on HRT.Smile
I intend to stay on it but yes you sound peri menopausal

Swapsies · 25/01/2022 23:47

I'm late 40's. Periods stopped 15 months ago.

Had periods of feeling hotter than normal but not raging hot.
Poor memory sometimes. Find it hard to find the right word. Thinner hair. Joint pains more recently.

Not sure if I'm to expect anything else. Would love to know what else I've likely got to come. Thinking of seeing the GP to see what they say ie am I now post menopausal?

LocalHobo · 25/01/2022 23:58

Increased libido.Periods became lighter over 5 cycles then stopped altogether. Almost two years ago now so I presume that's it.

perimenofertility · 26/01/2022 00:10

Overwhelming exhaustion, anxiety, randomly bursting into tears often for no particular reason, weird sensation that I can only best describe as electric shocks in my brain, also brain fog, general feeling of going mad, or sometimes feeling that I'm not even here, weight gain, aching joints. But strangely no changes at all to my periods (yet).

Ilovecharliecat · 26/01/2022 00:12

OMG this thread I can so comprehend, I’m 51 but so many of these symptoms I have. I need to contact my GP but the thought of trying to get a phone back puts me off, it’s so bloody frustrating .

Notcontent · 26/01/2022 00:12

I am 48 and pretty sure I am. Periods are slightly less regular and seem shorter but heavier. No hot flushes but trouble falling asleep, extreme exhaustion, brain fog, feelings of rage at times, anxiety.

Interestingly I was already suffering from some anxiety before but now it’s so much worse.

PinkArt · 26/01/2022 00:52

Fucking chin hair! Night sweats, erratic periods, one biblical period with three weeks of flooding.

justinhawkinsnavalfluff · 26/01/2022 00:57

Omg literally all my symptoms 😫 was beginning to think I was going mad. Time to see a Doctor I think.

Seashor · 26/01/2022 01:04

perimenofertility you could have written my symptoms for me!
Please, please get yourself checked out because when I eventually did it wasn’t anything to do with the menopause, it was an under active thyroid!

Onthedowns · 26/01/2022 09:37

😂😂 I forgot about this symptom

Please read Louise Newsomes book. And download her app, follow in Instagram. There is a lot of misleading information regarding HRT. It's important you arm yourself with knowledge if you intend to approach your GP. Mine has been fantastic but some are not and still using scare tactics regarding HRT.
