To think that dh is being totally unreasonable about this years holiday or not?

Ok heres the thing, I will graduate in 2008 after finishing (hopefully) my nursing degree.
Whilst I have been studying my mum has paid for us to have a family holiday ever year because she believes its important.
Anyway this year I wanted to do something special because I graduate, so I suggested me, dh, ds and dd going to disney florida, which he said 'yeah' to until I got the brochures and then he decided ds is too young and didnt want to go to america.

Now I'd like my mum to come too (shes had a shit year) and it would cost an extra £2.5k for her to come. So she's giving us £2k for us, paying her extra £2.5k, so all we'll have to find is the £1.5k plus spending which I think is great.

he still doesnt want to go, and I dont know why, we've had mums cc details for about 3 months now with her just waiting for us to book something with that 2k but he cant be arsed and says he doesnt know where to go.

Is he BU or AIBU?

Cala D'or is very resorty and touristy, but fine if all you want to do is lie on the beach and shop for souvenirs. It's the sort of place you'll find plenty of English pubs serving all-day full English breakfast. I wouldn't go back again tbh although the complex was nice and the resort was family-friendly.

Oh dear no thats not what we're looking for.

We normally stay in Cala N Bosch in Menorca. Which has lots of nice little fish restaurants and local produce to eat. Plus about 4 shops with duty free and souvenirs. My worst nightmare is somewhere that sells english brekkie all day full of louts drinking lager at breakfast til nightime

Why will it cost 2.5 k for your mother to come?

LyraSilvertinsel · 29/12/2007 19:13

I wouldn't say it was full of louts, it was child/family friendly but very touristy.
We went to Tenerife a couple of years ago which was much more upmarket and lovely. I'll try and remember the name of the place. It was 5 hours' flight though.

Its not at all like Magalluf ( I lived there for 3 years- that is a dive)- we just stayed on hotel complex or went to marina which is lovely.
there is lots to do for kids.

Some of us would rather be driven across hot coals than go anywhere near Disney World. Perhaps he's just that kind of person.

twinsetandpearls · 29/12/2007 19:26

I do think 3.3 is too young for disney florida especially if he is not that keen on theme parks. Save disney for a few years when you will all enjoy it much more and get your moneys worth.

twinsetandpearls · 29/12/2007 19:26

3.8 sorry - still to young IMO!

Blandmum · 29/12/2007 19:40

If you really want to do Mickey mouse with a child of that age, why not go to Disneyland in Paris.

It would cost you a lot less, andyou can enjoy France while you do it?

twinsetandpearls · 29/12/2007 19:44

eurodisney is fab for the under fives and you can combine it with visiting somewhere else in France as MB says.

We took dd to eurodisney at 3 and she loved it.

Crunchie · 29/12/2007 19:45

They've done Eurodisney.

twinsetandpearls · 29/12/2007 19:46

sorry didn't see that.

Blandmum · 29/12/2007 19:48

nor me!

twinsetandpearls · 29/12/2007 19:50

missed the NEVER AGAIN comment on France, I am laying all the blame on MB she started and I just followed.

mosschops30 · 29/12/2007 20:24

never again was aimed at camping not france in particular.

Have drawn up a list including menorca/majorca/ibiza and algarve will present him with it later

lots of conflicting reviews on Sa Coma and Cala Dor and which one is better??

(moondog thats further down the thread ..the disney thing is over now anyway)

and for those of you that thought disney in august was expensive at £3800 I have seen lots more expensive for spain at same time of year just looking through the brochures now
