Noisy dog walkers

JesusSufferingFuck22 · 24/01/2022 11:54

I live in a semi rural location that is popular with dog walkers and mountain bikers. My curtains were drawn, I was fast asleep until a group of dog walkers decided to stop right below my window. Like they were about 4ft from my front door. Talking, laughing, much hilarity and dogs barking and yapping.

I thought it was quite rude behaviour regardless of what time it was (9.30am)
It's very obvious that my curtains were drawn and someone was still sleeping.

I also should mention that I'm middle aged, hormonal and grumpy. I also have a condition that reacts badly to disturbed sleep. I also can't have caffeine.
I just needed to vent.

My god, I sympathise with anyone working night shifts who has to sleep during the day or anyone who is chronically ill and requires a lot of rest looking at these responses. You should not be standing right outside anyone's window and any time for prolong periods making excessive noise. YANBU

These ones. Literally half the price of branded ones with the same active ingredient. Which according to the pharmacist is an antihistamine ingredient..

If you just needed to vent, then you shouldn't have posted in AIBU.

You aren't being unreasonable to want to vent and this in fact indicates you know you are being unreasonable to think they were being selfish.

Something like that would irrationally piss me off too.

People should be quiet at all times. Wink

There is a glass recycling bin on the outskirts of the village and DH has taken to taking any glass with him on the first dog walk of the day at 7.30am - it's not too noisy for a couple of items and far enough from the houses, but imagine our surprise the other morning when we got glared at by an angry tousled man emerging from under a duvet on the front seats of a van he'd parked right in the recycling bay. Confused

Oh great another dog / dog walker bashing thread! We don't get many of these....Jeeezus fucking Christ, I've heard it all now! 😆

What I find odd is that you have no complaint about noisy bikers. I live surrounded by a forest and walk my dog in it every day -2 to 4 hours a day usually. I haven't come across any noisy groups of dogwalkers but the bikers are, without doubt, the noisiest forest users - shoutiing loud conversations to each other as they speed along. You can hear them for several minutes before they come into view.

I KNOW it's not early for people who have work/small children/pets to walk. It's early(ish) for me especially after a crap nights sleep.

Yes they should unless they have a note stating why the noise making is essential.

Your DH is very unreasonable to be so efficient at that time of the morningGrin

Poor guy having to sleep in his van though!

it's not an attack on dog walkers. The majority around here are very pleasant.

Yes, we get a few noisy bikers too but they generally don't hang around outside my house for extended periods of time.

Inconvenience someone by parking outside their house = "you don't own the public road!"

Inconvenience someone by talking outside their house = "go somewhere else!"

😂😂

Just when you think the weird 'dog hate' on Mumsnet couldn't get any more weird Grin

This!

It's not dog hate from me! I love dogs. I just have issue with their owners standing outside my house being noisy fuckers and stopping their dogs being unruly.

It's the same thing @JesusSufferingFuck22

Dogs, their owners. All draw so much invective in these parts. Yours is absolutely something of a cherry on top !!

Tbf I'd be just as annoyed if it was walkers with noisy children🤷‍♀️

No, poorly trained dogs and owners who don't give a shit about who and what their dogs impact upon draw invective - and rightly so. That invective is also extended to other forms of anti social behaviour, again rightly so.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 24/01/2022 15:12

You haven't read the one about a house being devalued/ruined because dogs pee on the front/side wall, have you @SirChenjins?

Made me smile for ages. So many posters unable to picture a house that had walls directly onto the street, no front garden, gate etc.

SirChenjins · 24/01/2022 15:19

Oh, I've read comments from individual posters (I missed that one about their house being peed on repeatedly - grim) but not generalised invective aimed at all dog owners and all dogs.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 24/01/2022 15:22

There are always a few who ramp up the invective on many dog threads. It can be really amusing.

I usually agree that many dog owners are pillocks. I say that as the owner of a 3 year old, very bouncy dog who has to fend off all sorts of idiots every time we go out for a walk.

Fatgalslim · 24/01/2022 15:23

So it was a group of noisy people outside your house? Not sure why they were dog walkers is relevant, it could easily have been ramblers, horse riders but no, those bastard dog walkers again

SirChenjins · 24/01/2022 15:35

Not sure why they were dog walkers is relevant, it could easily have been ramblers, horse riders but no, those bastard dog walkers again

But it wasn't ramblers, horse riders or any other type of group - it was a group of dog owners whose dogs were yapping and barking. Heaven forbid the word 'dog' be included in posts about anti social dog owners in case an owner happens to have hurt feelings.

@CuriousaboutSamphire - agree. We've just joined the dog owning tribe. The vast majority of other owners we've met are lovely and it's been great getting to know them and their doggos, but jeez, there are some a-hole owners out there - probably the same ones who let their kids run riot whilst smiling indulgently and getting uppity if someone dares to criticise them.

ErrolTheDragon · 24/01/2022 15:44

I neither open my front bedroom curtains most days, nor look at other peoples upstairs window and speculate on what they may or may not be doing. Confused
