Noisy dog walkers

JesusSufferingFuck22 · 24/01/2022 11:54

I live in a semi rural location that is popular with dog walkers and mountain bikers. My curtains were drawn, I was fast asleep until a group of dog walkers decided to stop right below my window. Like they were about 4ft from my front door. Talking, laughing, much hilarity and dogs barking and yapping.

I thought it was quite rude behaviour regardless of what time it was (9.30am)
It's very obvious that my curtains were drawn and someone was still sleeping.

I also should mention that I'm middle aged, hormonal and grumpy. I also have a condition that reacts badly to disturbed sleep. I also can't have caffeine.
I just needed to vent.

Just when you think the weird 'dog hate' on Mumsnet couldn't get any more weird Grin
I don't hate dogs, just am incredibly irritated by some owners.

Yabu how was it obvious that you were still sleeping? Just because curtains are closed doesn't necessarily mean it's obvious you were still sleeping. Unless you have a sign up or you're a vey loud snorer in which case it might explain why they're having to raise their voices for your snores.

JesusSufferingFuck22 · 24/01/2022 12:40

@girlmom21

To be fair to OP the time is irrelevant as people work shifts etc.

How rural is semi-rural? Could they have walked an extra 30 seconds and been away from any homes.

Yes, they could have walked a wee bit further and been well away from civilisation.

We often get woken up by dog walkers between 6 and 7 who decide it’s a good idea to stand outside our fence and chat. I think it’s because they are by the fields on a footpath and forget there are houses there.

I don’t mind too much but there is one lady who calls her dog very loudly and very frequently in a high pitched shrill tone that’s really annoying..

Frlrlrubert · 24/01/2022 12:41

YANBU to be annoyed. Everyone should be quiet all the time in case someone is grumpy or sleeping (I'm only half joking, my dad worked nights so I move like a ninja).

There's a good dog walk that starts behind my house, people let their dogs bark at all sorts of times and then MY dogs feel the need to join in, inside my house. I'm not sure if I'm quite middle aged yet, but I'm definitely grumpy.

vodkaredbullgirl · 24/01/2022 12:41

Hmm would annoy me too and I'm a dog owner. I work nights and would be the time I would be trying to go to sleep.

Santahasjoinedww · 24/01/2022 12:41

I can recommend Tesco own brand sleeping pills. After 15 months of selfish swimmers I take medication now. They are selfish twats.

If I saw curtains were closed I'd assume they were still in bed for whatever reason. I imagine if I had been having sex I would be just as grumpy about their noise.

I think some people honestly don't realise how loud they are. This happens to us regularly at all times of day and night but we chose to live somewhere 'public' so I try not to complain unless anyone wakes the kids.

Yes, I think they get so excited about getting out to into the country side they forget that people live here.

I find unnecessarily loud people annoying. It would equally be annoying for someone trying to work from home. Not sure what you can do about it though. I think 9.30 on a weekday isn’t very early so I don’t think the time is a reason alone to be annoyed by this.

Really? Over the counter actual sleeping pills? Assume you can only get on prescription, also interested!

Yup.
WhenISnappedAndFarted · 24/01/2022 12:55

@MorningStarling -Rescue dogs are different, they've been through a lot and an awful lot more hard work. I've had plenty of rescue dogs who have been so loud when I first got them and it's taken years to get them used to me, feel like they're part of the family and not going to be hit or abused.

OP, YANBU I've noticed that people are really loud these days, I work from home and the amount of people outside who can be heard on calls is ridiculous.

RB68 · 24/01/2022 12:57

There was a clear sign that potentially someone was sleeping so they were inconsiderate - could for e.g. be a shift worker rather than someone who might be suffering from insomnia due to menopause for e.g. - god forbid we give them some slack

ivykaty44 · 24/01/2022 13:01

seriously, everyone in the country side makes to much noise according to the locals

EffYou · 24/01/2022 13:05

I sympathise. I live on the corner of a giant green. Despite the signs that say "no dogs", there are probably a hundred or more dogs walked here daily. And the dog walkers often try and congregate in front of my house or have even opened the gate to my carport and tried sheltering in there during a storm. I came home to five men and women and their dogs in my carport, smoking and laughing.

They're inconsiderate. I hate it. Obviously I told them to piss off out of my property and they scuttled off looking ashamed, but still get groups standing outside my house at 6am or 11pm doing first and last walkies, obviously meeting up by the house on the end, waking my kids up with their barking mutts and their screechy laughter

SliceOfCakeCupOfTea · 24/01/2022 13:07

How would their chatter have disturbed you having sex?? How much do you need to concentrate??

Chloemol · 24/01/2022 13:10

Tbh I would just open the window and say can you move on please I work nights and and trying to sleep

JesusSufferingFuck22 · 24/01/2022 13:10

I'm ok with people out enjoying the country side and making a bit of noise. It was the gathering outside my house for about 30 mins making all the noise.

It would distract me and kill the mood.

I very passive aggressively opened my curtains and glared at them. I did consider opening the window and asking them to move but thought I might be overreacting.

Never mind all that, I also need to know about these Tesco tablets.

I've also stuck some duct tape over my dog and dog walkers mouths just in case they pass the ops house.
