To be annoyed they've blocked me in?

Next door has a visitor. Instead of parking in the empty car park next to my house they have parked directly in front of my house. I was going to pop to Tesco for some packed lunch stuff. Now I can't. They've been over 2 hrs. I don't fancy going out in the dark and knocking on next door and asking them to move. I just want to be able to drive out my own freaking house. AIBU to be annoyed?

"It was lighthearted" 🙈

Justilou1 · 23/01/2022 20:36

No “Sorry, I’ll move it straight away”??? Fuckers!

TheBestUsernamesAreGone · 23/01/2022 20:36

I'm with you OP. Sure it's 'no bother' to ask them to move, but you SHOULDN'T HAVE TO. People should just be considerate in the first place instead of pushing their luck and seeing what fuckery they can get away with on the assumption that people will just let them.

Sheis · 23/01/2022 20:37

If it's dark out or was when they parked, maybe they didn't realise they blocked you in.

Darbs76 · 23/01/2022 20:49

Absolutely knock on the door - might stop them from doing it again when they realise that they are blocking someone in. Really gets on my nerves. My old neighbour went through a period of having a load of people at his house on a Friday evening and we had a shared drive. I wouldn’t have minded but Friday evening was the night I had to go out twice for football practice pick up. It used to annoy me so much

Hawkins001 · 23/01/2022 21:03

@Longcovid21

No before. But it's a very narrow road so one car blocks the whole road. There is a giant visitor car park next to me they should use instead...
People and cars, a whole differ different combination
DiddyHeck · 23/01/2022 21:06

I cant imagine a world where I'd rather take to Mumsnet complaining and drawing a diagram about being blocked in, rather than simply giving next door a knock and asking them to move.

Honestly, no wonder MN and often women are considered a laughing stock at times. Can you ever imagine a man acting like this?

Give yourself a shake OP.

PriamFarrl · 23/01/2022 21:11

Shops in Scotland are not subject to the same Sunday opening restrictions as England.
So if the op or indeed other posters are in Scotland then the Tesco there will be open 24/7.

How stupid of them to park and block the entire road.

5thnonblonde · 23/01/2022 21:15

@DiddyHeck where are all women deemed a laughing stock?!

Maybe you could ask the council to put down double yellows, particularly if a parked car would block an ambulance

Sitting in the car and tooting the horn is also BU, IMHO. Along with being against the Highway Code). My ex-ILs used to do it so we would come out and open the door and they didn't have to ring the bell. Perhaps that's why it gives me the rage.

user1493494961 · 23/01/2022 21:20

I voted YABU, because you should knock the door and ask them to move.

ButtockUp · 23/01/2022 21:34

Just ask them to move!!!

Oh my days!

Bootikin · 23/01/2022 21:46

If they are blocking the entire road (shit diagram, sorry OP, it is totally unclear) then that means emergency services couldn’t reach your house and this is a far bigger issue. Can’t you call the council?

If the road is as narrow as you say (unlike your crap, not to scale drawing which doesn’t make the issue clear at all) then that section of road should be double yellow lines.

If so … It can’t be the first time this has happened? Why isn’t the street properly marked up / monitored by local auth?

There has to be more to this.

DiddyHeck · 23/01/2022 21:48

I don't know, posting threads like this on Mumsnet. Have you never heard of 'Mumsnet Madness'? The OP is an adult and would rather do this than simply ask them to move.

Strange that, I can't imagine a world where I would read someone else's post and deem it to be so incredibly beneath me and ridiculous yet take the time to post on it!

Are we all supposed to agree with one another here even if we think an OP is being ridiculous? What sort of 'chat' forum would this be if no-one posted on threads just because they don't agree?

mummykel16 · 23/01/2022 22:02

Yanbu op, with so many idiots about you can't be sure what the response will be to asking them to move nor should you have to find out.

GrannytoaUnicorn · 23/01/2022 22:08

& @user1493494961

Had you RTFT you'd see that OP already did go and ask them to move Hmm

custardbear · 23/01/2022 22:11

It's simple laziness of the visitors - ffs why inconvenience everyone else for their laziness 🤯🤯🤯

BashfulClam · 23/01/2022 22:41

@HelloFrostyMorning Scotland doesn’t have the stupid Sunday rule so our supermarkets are open as usual. My local Tesco is open 24/7, the Sainsburys closes at 11pm. People also get confused when we have different school holiday dates in summer.

What the fuck am I reading here?

Absolute bunch of pricks on here tonight. Diagrams have to be to scale and if not then you get sworn at?

@Longcovid21 it’s really annoying and I don’t blame you for not wanting to add an extra layer of irritation to a simple errand! I’d have been annoyed too.

The diagram is perfectly acceptable. What's not clear? Confused

Oh I do apologise my Sunday evening sketch wasn't up to your high standards. No it's not a public road it's a cul de sac with private parking to the side. Double yellow lines on a drive past my house to a private car park would look odd.
