C section booked, Labour just started

Booked in for a c section at around noon today. Bloody labour has just started.

I don't know what to do.

37 weeks today, waters went late on Friday evening.

Ring the maternity ward.

Totalwasteofpaper · 23/01/2022 06:03

Go in to the mat ward now so you can get the first slot.

Thegirlhasnamechanged · 23/01/2022 06:05

I had the same with DS (section booked for 38+6, labour started 37+4).

Ring the maternity ward. They should ask you to come in and then you can still have your section if you want to deliver that way 😊

Good luck!

Poppins2016 · 23/01/2022 06:07

As PPs said, call the ward and let them know.

Are you booked in for a C section due to your waters breaking? If so, are you considering whether you have the option to see how labour progresses, or would you rather have the C section (all the more reason to call and let them know so that they can move your slot to an earlier time for you, if possible).

MysticCT · 23/01/2022 06:08

I've had this happen twice, both late on a Saturday evening.
I was told to go straight in and they called in the surgeon from home. I ended up having the C sections in the small hours of Sunday morning both times.

Cardio101 · 23/01/2022 06:15

Well what did your midwife team say when you told them your waters had gone?
The obvious thing to do would be to call triage, with an earlier C-section

MyOtherProfile · 23/01/2022 06:16

Happened to me too. Just call. All the best!

tvcc · 23/01/2022 06:50

@Fletchersromancing

Ring the maternity ward.
I'm on the ward.

What options have the midwives talked about? I guess a vaginal delivery must be an option or you wouldn’t have started this thread.

FartnissEverbeans · 23/01/2022 06:53

Good luck OP! My son was born at exactly 37 weeks as well Smile

Diggersaursarethebest · 23/01/2022 06:53

I should have written ´attempting a vaginal delivery’

tvcc · 23/01/2022 06:55

I'm on the monitor, will have to see what the docs say

Yes an option. Would rather the baby stuck with the plan.

I hate having decisions to make

After a traumatic first birth I'm loathe to even attempt a vaginal delivery. But the opportunity is now presenting itself and I'm in limbo.

Was the trauma injury? In which case I'd stick to your guns.

If it was psychological I'd give it a little while and see how you get on

Huy456 · 23/01/2022 07:00

Is baby big or small? Is labour progressing slowly or fast?

Chanel05 · 23/01/2022 07:00

If you have birth trauma then honestly, I'd just go for the section. You're in the early stages and they should be able to fit you in calmly today. You'll have the experience you wanted still.

marihen1 · 23/01/2022 07:00

Good luck OP

Huy456 · 23/01/2022 07:00

Annoying to have double the pain though

Not injury but infection to me and the baby after my waters broke for the same amount of time etc.

And yes some psychological too.

Baby is pretty bang on average. I've had steroids to ensure lungs are good and strong ready for the planned section.

I'm still on the monitor, will have a talk with the day staff doctors soon

Yep. Nothing goes to plan with me and labours that's for sure!
OP posts:
Huy456 · 23/01/2022 07:12

Are you coping at the moment?

tvcc · 23/01/2022 07:13

@Huy456

Are you coping at the moment?
Yes but I really don't want labour to progress loads and end up in a semi-emergency section.

The main pro of a planned is the calm nature and not cutting into a uterus that's been contracting.

Pretty frustrated actually

tvcc · 23/01/2022 07:14

Baby is doing really well though, no distress
