To think that if someone had posted this here, they’d have been told their child must be lying

story

To be fair it is almost unbelievable.

ReggaetonLente · 20/01/2022 12:54

Wow that is shocking. Those poor kids!

Justcallmebebes · 20/01/2022 12:55

I read that earlier. She sounds absolutely unhinged and in no way suitable to work with young kids. Those poor pupils

StarbucksSmarterSister · 20/01/2022 12:56

I'm not clicking on a random link.

It's the Fail. I wouldn't have clicked if I'd known that. Grin

OP, it's mind boggling that somebody would behave like that.

IrisPrimrose · 20/01/2022 13:10

Problem is, a lot of the broadsheets are behind a paywall. Plus, I’ll give the Mail some credit for reporting on Stephen Lawrence, old news though it may be.

That’s horrible.
But I don’t understand :
Are teachers in the UK meant to change children if they pee / poo?

Then don't comment.

What depresses me is that I’ve seen some of these behaviours as routine at dd’s old school, I suspect they are much more common that the article implies. I’ve seen many instances of teachers sending 5-6 yr olds home in wee/poo soiled clothes, leaving children alone sobbing in corner for ages “to calm down by herself”, or being forced to change clothes for PE in front of whole class even tho the children and parents objected to it etc and the 7-8 girls in particular didn’t want the boys to see (and mock) their naked chests, some of which were beginning to development breast buds. I wonder how common these situations are in schools. Or maybe our old school was just really bad dunno.

And then we wonder why British schoolchildren have some of the highest rates of mental health problems in the world 😥

Whilst I may not expect them to physically change a 6 year old, I think sourcing some clean clothes from lost and found or something and allowing said child the time to go to the toilet and change in private would be acceptable.

Even in the 90's when I was a primary school child, I vividly remember in year 1 and 2 one child being helped by Mrs Williams regularly, he would leave the class after an accident and come back in later with different bottoms on. Once he was very upset the only joggers available were pink, but it was that or nothing 🤷🏻‍♀️

safclass · 20/01/2022 13:19

Yes - if they need to. Often given as a jo. To A TA /Nursery nurse, but as an ex early years/rec teacher ive changed lots of kids!

BoredZelda · 20/01/2022 13:42

So it is possible to get rid of poor teachers. Very unusual for an LA to get rid of a bad teacher, I wonder why this particular case was brought.

mangoontoast · 20/01/2022 13:44

ffs, please tell us if you're going to get us to click on a link to the Mail. Couldn't read it after all anyway as there's no way I'm approving their cookies and it covered the screen.

IrisPrimrose · 20/01/2022 13:50

It’s fairly easy to get rid of teachers, tbh.

TheMarzipanDildo · 20/01/2022 13:50

Why do people like this go into jobs like teaching, which really require you to be patient and fair and considerate and not a massive dick who doesn’t seem to like children?

IrisPrimrose · 20/01/2022 13:51

Don’t be ridiculous @mangoontoast, it’s a newspaper story, not pornography Confused

Or were you just trying to show everyone how right on and left leaning you are by never ever reading the Mail, no never?

of course I don't ever read the Mail, never ever as you say, as I don't want to fund hate. You're the one being ridiculous reading it and funding those disgusting people. If people stopped reading the bloody shit rag it would go out of business and maybe people like you would stop believing the crap they dish up.
AuntieStella · 20/01/2022 14:07

It does help to make a link showing the url, so that people can see where it will take them before they click.

Also, the Mail has nearlyas many clicks as MN if you want to reject all (over a hundred) so there will be people who won't go to that site, and so won't have a clue what you're on about. Any chance of the gist?

It really really isn’t. My partners a v experienced teacher and has worked in plenty of schools where the chocolate teapots just keep being moved sideways as they are really hard to sack.
MorningStarling · 20/01/2022 14:09

It's kind of the same thing. It's weird to link to stuff without warning people what it might be, especially if it's something controversial like The Mirror or The Mail or Storm Front.

Not everyone wants these websites logged in their history by their IP for the next few years.

IrisPrimrose · 20/01/2022 14:11

Ah, so you don’t believe this story? You think the children were lying?

Of course you know it is true. I am well aware of the Mail’s shortcomings but these are shared by the British media in general. That contemptuous ‘people like you’ is ridiculous. People like me who - what, read a story and thought ‘blimey’?

Generally speaking though, it’s wise to read widely. As a rule, and I’m actually not aiming this at you personally, but I think most of the 'I hate the Daily Mail posturing is less about actually being a good person (which you can be regardless of your choice of newspaper) and more about adopting a stance that's supposed to show the world how virtuous you are. One value system does not automatically trump another and I will repeat my earlier point that I will remind people revolted by the very look of the paper how good it was at bringing Stephen Lawrence’s killers to justice.

However all this is mildly stupid given I only shared the link as it wasn’t behind a fucking paywall! Grin

The etiquette is to let people know what the link is, summerise the content and allow people to comment. Dodgy, hidden link with a click-baity comment is not good etiquette. I wouldn't click without other posters telling me what it is.

However, the Mail is a mixed bag. Sometimes they do journalism, and sometimes they do shite. Just like the bloody Guardian right now. Read widely everyone and make up your own minds.

IrisPrimrose · 20/01/2022 14:14

Indeed ‘just like the Guardian.’ The Mail do at least appear to know what a woman is.

It is easy to get rid of a teacher - if you want to. If the Head doesn’t want to then agreed, it is pretty much impossible.

OP posts:
MrsTerryPratchett · 20/01/2022 14:23

When the Cologne attacks happened the only source I could find readily available was Breibart FFS. I assumed they had exaggerated or made stuff up. But no, Breitbart was telling the truth and the Guardian was ignoring the mass sexual assault on women.

Never trust just one source. They all have an agenda.

Whats the alternative if the child struggles? Walking shit around everywhere and sitting about in pissy pants?
