To have laughed at her Slimming World advice?

831 replies

Pikaso · 18/01/2022 13:04

Woman at work has been doing Slimming World. She’s obsessed with it and goes on about it constantly armed with her books and Muller Lights at every meal.
I told her last week I was going to give it a go. I didn’t buy Muller Lights but instead bought some asda own yogurts which had almost identical calorie, fat and sugar content. Sat down to eat lunch yesterday and she came in and said “I thought you were doing slimming world?”. I said “I am” so she said “how many syns in those yogurts?” So I said “none, they’re the same as muller lights”. She replied “no, you’re meant to eat Muller lights!” And looked really concerned and worried!! I did owl noises in her face and told her the calories, sugar and fat etc were exactly the same so why would it matter??! She actually left the room muttering about how it won’t work if you don’t do it properly.

I did slimming world a few years back and stopped because of the cult like behaviour of the members and leaders. I thought I’d give it another go but she has totally put me off again! Nothing has changed!!
She’s been off with me ever since. WIBU to have laughed at her muller light concerns?? Common sense tells you it’s the calories etc that matter, not the bloody name on the pot!!

I wonder how many syns are in an (unbranded) owl

ExtraOnion · 18/01/2022 13:49

Maybe it was a Superb Owl ? And there was a Superb Owl party ?

BaileysforBreakfast · 18/01/2022 13:49

YABU. Owl noises WTF?

grossnessewwww · 18/01/2022 13:50

@xILikeJamx

Please post a video of you doing owl noises as it just doesn't make any sense
Yes please do
sadpapercourtesan · 18/01/2022 13:50

What's making this thread funny is all the po-faced outrage at the owl noises

I'm intrigued, OP - is it a distraction technique you've carried over from parenting preschoolers? Does it work?

HelloFrostyMorning · 18/01/2022 13:50

@MrsEricBana

What the owl? 🦉

I'm just here for the Gruffalo comments. Fingers crossed for the deletion message 'goodbye little mouse'

HelloFrostyMorning · 18/01/2022 13:51

You have been massively derailed @Pikaso but YANBU about the yogurts!

DollyDingleberry · 18/01/2022 13:51

Well this is abject bollocks because muller lights aren’t free anymore. I’m not even doing slimming world.

RasputinsPickledPenis · 18/01/2022 13:51

She's right to be annoyed.

Owl noises wouldn't fly with me, either.

AmIDoingThisRight · 18/01/2022 13:51

Had it been mouse noises you would have won the argument.

Thoosa · 18/01/2022 13:51

You were rude and yes she is brainwashed by the sound of it.

You can eat all types of yogurts and obviously other food, you just check the syn value on the app.

I do slimming world.

ChargingBuck · 18/01/2022 13:52

@mynameiscalypso

I could maybe understand a sheep noise (but it would still be rude obvs) but owls aren't particularly known for their cult-like behaviour are they? I struggle to think of an animal that would be less likely to join a cult.
Marine turtle, @mynameiscalypso?

OP should learn to emulate the antelope, which cannot live alone.
They are also known covid-deniers, believe in PizzaGate, & can be persuaded to commit mass suicide at the behest of a charismatic leader. Fact.

Get practicing your braying & groaning noises OP -

Veeveeoxox · 18/01/2022 13:53

Yes skyr is good for you it's high in protein and stops you feeling hungry. The thing is with muller lights you could probably eat 10 and still not feel full. I eat kvarg instead of Muller lights.

Wheresthebeach · 18/01/2022 13:53

I was having a bad day...then I found this thread. Grin

So this is a strategy you've used before - and to good effect I presume?

Do you do other animal impressions in other situations? Bark at people if they get too close to your desk perhaps?

DrCoconut · 18/01/2022 13:53

Is this a wind up? Just that I can't see actual adults in the workplace acting like this. Plus it has the usual (inaccurate) old chestnuts about SlimmingWorld, food, weird behaviour, like a Mumsnet checklist for classics really.

Veryverycalmnow · 18/01/2022 13:53

I'm 'owling at this thread! Thanks OP. Next time I don't want to listen to someone talking about a yoghurt, I'll know what to do- twit twooo

RainbowZebraWarrior · 18/01/2022 13:53

@SheldonesqueTheBstard

I’ve just tried it on my mam.

It didn’t work.

Hehe Sheldy, maybe you weren't doing it right. Maybe you should be a little Dove like. Channel your inner Reeves and Mortimer and becon the dove from above...
Songsareliketattoos · 18/01/2022 13:54

This thread! - I'm h-owling GrinGrinGrin

Elletine · 18/01/2022 13:54

@Pikaso

I wasn’t saying cuckoo. It was literally a gentle “coooo coooo … “ just to break her train of thought
😂😂😂😂😂
FilledSoda · 18/01/2022 13:54

You were calling her cuckoo.
Did you do the circle with your finger at your head ?
Massively offensive OP

Veeveeoxox · 18/01/2022 13:55

I think muller must pay slimming world money .

cherryonthecakes · 18/01/2022 13:55

How many people have read all of OP's posts so far to find out more about the owl noises? 😂
