To have laughed at her Slimming World advice?

Pikaso · 18/01/2022 13:04

Woman at work has been doing Slimming World. She’s obsessed with it and goes on about it constantly armed with her books and Muller Lights at every meal.
I told her last week I was going to give it a go. I didn’t buy Muller Lights but instead bought some asda own yogurts which had almost identical calorie, fat and sugar content. Sat down to eat lunch yesterday and she came in and said “I thought you were doing slimming world?”. I said “I am” so she said “how many syns in those yogurts?” So I said “none, they’re the same as muller lights”. She replied “no, you’re meant to eat Muller lights!” And looked really concerned and worried!! I did owl noises in her face and told her the calories, sugar and fat etc were exactly the same so why would it matter??! She actually left the room muttering about how it won’t work if you don’t do it properly.

I did slimming world a few years back and stopped because of the cult like behaviour of the members and leaders. I thought I’d give it another go but she has totally put me off again! Nothing has changed!!
She’s been off with me ever since. WIBU to have laughed at her muller light concerns?? Common sense tells you it’s the calories etc that matter, not the bloody name on the pot!!

She was banging on and on about how it had to be muller lights and I couldn’t get a word in edgeways so I did owl noises to get her to take a breath so I could speak

Are you 5?

Fuck me. This thread is exactly why I love working from home and dread spending time in the office.

Pikaso · 18/01/2022 13:24

I’ll send her a message apologising.

This still makes no sense.

WHY OWL NOISES?

TimmyNook · 18/01/2022 13:25

Also curious about Owl noises.

Do you not mean Cookoo noises?! Confused

But I also thought Muller Lights had syns in them too? completely missing the point of the thread

BoodleBug51 · 18/01/2022 13:25

YABU for eating those yogurts full stop...... there's probably more nutritional value in the plastic pot.

saturdayhelicopter · 18/01/2022 13:25

Well this thread is a hoot.

This!
PurplePikachu · 18/01/2022 13:26

I’m sorry, every single thing you post is funnier. Wtf do you mean you went coo coo at her?

SummerHouse · 18/01/2022 13:26

I am literally going to try this on my children when they come up with excuses for not getting in the shower.

Thank you op. You may be unusual and a little rude, but I like you, and this is a great thread.

Crimesean · 18/01/2022 13:26

@saturdayhelicopter wins the thread Grin

Vallmo47 · 18/01/2022 13:26

OP you were both in the wrong. She shouldn’t have got that involved in what yoghurt you were eating and you were rude to mock her for it. Turns out you are also both wrong about what yoghurts to eat. And the whole of Mumsnet seems to be obsessed with owls now.

Thank you for the chuckle. First world problems sometimes really lighten up the mood of the world.

KatieKat88 · 18/01/2022 13:27

This is why I spend too much time on Mumsnet Grin where's the Mumsnet owl emoji when you need one

Lookforwardtosummer · 18/01/2022 13:27

I totally agree OP but can't get past the owl noises bit?!

Pikaso · 18/01/2022 13:27

I wasn’t saying cuckoo. It was literally a gentle “coooo coooo … “ just to break her train of thought

Maybe Asda yogurts give you irritable b-owl

MrsTrumpton · 18/01/2022 13:27

Good. You tried to make her the butt of your joke to make yourself look big and clever but instead you just made yourself look like the office bitch.
Sausagesausagesausage · 18/01/2022 13:28

Do you do owl noises a lot or was this a one off?

Motnight · 18/01/2022 13:28

Just when you thought that Mumsnet couldn't surprise you any longer....

Agrudge · 18/01/2022 13:28

Does anyone else wish they were there to watch this interaction?

Pikaso · 18/01/2022 13:28

What joke??? It wasn’t a joke! The calorie contents were the same!! That was a fact!

@LadyLaSnack

You really should have lured her back to for tea in your treetop house to have this discussion.

She does (like most people entrapped in the cult of slimming world) sound irksome and boring, but you don't sound much better @Pikaso so I didn't vote.

And you made OWL noises in her face. Whaaaa? Confused

MrsTimRiggins · 18/01/2022 13:29

You definitely need to be more tactful, yes. I’m amazed she’s your friend at all, the way you behaved was incredibly rude and so is the way you’re talking about her now ‘banging on’ etc.
TreeSmuggler · 18/01/2022 13:29

She worships at the alter of Muller lites and you're an owl on and off.

Please post where you work so we can all make sure we never apply there.
