To have laughed at her Slimming World advice?

Pikaso · 18/01/2022 13:04

Woman at work has been doing Slimming World. She’s obsessed with it and goes on about it constantly armed with her books and Muller Lights at every meal.
I told her last week I was going to give it a go. I didn’t buy Muller Lights but instead bought some asda own yogurts which had almost identical calorie, fat and sugar content. Sat down to eat lunch yesterday and she came in and said “I thought you were doing slimming world?”. I said “I am” so she said “how many syns in those yogurts?” So I said “none, they’re the same as muller lights”. She replied “no, you’re meant to eat Muller lights!” And looked really concerned and worried!! I did owl noises in her face and told her the calories, sugar and fat etc were exactly the same so why would it matter??! She actually left the room muttering about how it won’t work if you don’t do it properly.

I did slimming world a few years back and stopped because of the cult like behaviour of the members and leaders. I thought I’d give it another go but she has totally put me off again! Nothing has changed!!
She’s been off with me ever since. WIBU to have laughed at her muller light concerns?? Common sense tells you it’s the calories etc that matter, not the bloody name on the pot!!

Pretty sure this is a wind up and OP is trying to make it into classics. You know when posters do that "thing" of regaling a fairly garden variety situation but will casually drop in something completely bizarre, ignore the first 100 posts referring to it and then act puzzled about what was so strange about said behaviour ie) snapped and farted, embarrassing "t rex" in asda etc. Bit try hard really.

Somethingsnappy · 18/01/2022 19:03

@LadyMacbethWasMisunderstood

If you make owl noises to get someone’s attention/indicate you don’t agree, what animal or bird noises do you make to indicate you agree with someone?
I think a 'quack, quack' is accepted etiquette, but perhaps OP can confirm?
Gargellen · 18/01/2022 19:04

Why do SW call sin syn. Is syn short for something or are they trying to be all Younique and that? I've never understood why you take a perfectly good word like sin and change it for some weird reason.

Hoppinggreen · 18/01/2022 19:06

@Dixiechickonhols

No tie in with muller lights there’s no recommendation to eat them on sw. It’s like a weird urban myth. In 3 years my consultant has never mentioned them (I still go as a target member) Only Yoghurt that gets mentioned regularly at ours is Isey skyr baked apples - high protein and delicious. It’s only sold in M & S £2 so people buy it for each other. 1.5 syns 450g. kvarg (high protein flavoured quark) is popular too.
If the annoying colleague had been going on about the Skyr yoghurts I wonder if OP would have made puffin noises at her instead?

Nah, I think it's genuine. I've seen other threads/posts by the OP, and I think she's just pleasingly eccentric.

Like a cooo-coocoo type owl noise? Did your head spin all the way round like a owl as well? I might start being a owl in work from now on, see how I get on.

TonytheDog · 18/01/2022 19:10

Entirely missing the point but .....
You know owls don't go 'coo coo'?They actually go 'twit twit' or 'twoo twoo' the 'twit twoo' is one owl saying 'twit' and the other replying 'twoo'.

Gumbomambo · 18/01/2022 19:12

Even if she’s making it up she’s got us all laughing, a mum has flapped her wings and hooted at a 3 year old, we have countless owl puns and gifs and we have learnt not all mullers are free on SW either. What a great effort OP.

SlipperTripper · 18/01/2022 19:12

Coo coo noises sound more pigeon than owl?

Californiansunsets · 18/01/2022 19:12

Owl noises……are you actually an adult?

Diva66 · 18/01/2022 19:14

Does the OP have IBS?

This has given me such a laugh. Thanks OP

TeamBlondie · 18/01/2022 19:22

@Pikaso

It was just so daft!! She’s an intelligent person, I couldn’t believe she was so brainwashed to think that the brand mattered!
I can’t believe you’re so brainwashed to think diets like SW work. There’s a reason you’re ‘trying it again’.

This thread is making me want to watch phoneshop.

To have laughed at her Slimming World advice?
Rosebuud · 18/01/2022 19:33

I think that you heard something so silly and you couldn't help but laugh, albeit in an owl fashion

Second best line,,,😂😂😂

dexterslockedintheshedagain · 18/01/2022 19:36

Was it Barn or Tawney owl noises?

DiamondBright · 18/01/2022 19:36

Slimming world members being obsessed with muller light yogurts is a Mumsnet myth along with being able to eat unlimited pasta and potatoes (if you're doing it properly), absolute nonsense.

dexterslockedintheshedagain · 18/01/2022 19:37

Maybe OP is suffering from irritable owl syndrome

Hesma · 18/01/2022 19:38

Owl noises???

WingingItSince1973 · 18/01/2022 19:39

@ClawedButler

The best thing about microwaving an owl is that you can maintain eye contact the whole time.
🤣🤣🤣 Brilliant 😅

It's short for synergy.
AutomaticMoon · 18/01/2022 19:40

But fat doesn’t make you fat! Look up Nina Teicholz on YT or amazon.

derxa · 18/01/2022 19:40

@IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads

You made owl noises in her face? Hmm
Grin
NoNameNoOne · 18/01/2022 19:42

Not sure why you "cooowed" and thought it was an owl noise or why she is so militant on the Muller, either way you are both Batshit. Isolation genuinely has done longterm damage.....
