DH watching the film and guffawing. I tried 10 minutes and couldn't take any more.

Never met a woman who finds it funny.

Or Monty Python.

AIBU?

Ex wouldn’t let me call our dog Dan Sad

Summerfun54321 · 15/01/2022 19:11

These are SEX PEOPLE!

😂😂😂

PhilCornwall1 · 15/01/2022 19:11

@daisiesonmydress

OMG. Is this going to be one of those unanimous moments when the whole of MN thinks IAU
Nah. Both you mentioned are shite, I can't see what's funny about them.

Mind you, I'm someone who likes watching Edd China or Ant Anstead sort out a car on Wheeler Dealers, so I'm
Probably just as bad.

beavertowers · 15/01/2022 19:12

Monkey tennis?

GenderCriticalTrumpets · 15/01/2022 19:12

Mentalist!!!!!

DontTellThemYourNamePike · 15/01/2022 19:13

We always say A Partridge Among the Pigeons when we see some awful contrived TV show title usually channel 5

Shortpoet · 15/01/2022 19:14

I love Alan Partridge. In fact paying silly money to go and see him live later this year.

But then I grew up watching Richard and Judy and Richard is more Alan than Alan is sometimes!

SirChenjins · 15/01/2022 19:14

More toe curling, cringey humour than the laugh out loud variety - very clever writing imo.

AutumnColours9 · 15/01/2022 19:15

I love it

daisiesonmydress · 15/01/2022 19:16

@Goodbyemylover

How old are you OP and what do you find funny? Sorry if I missed an update! Just need a bit of perspective although we all have our differing tastes. My In Laws said they found Mrs Browns Boys funny but they must have been on crack as they're the least likely candidates for the audience...
I'm well into my fifties so AP is my time.

Like said before, like Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Office, Detectorists, remembered This Country.

Hate stuff like Ms Brown Boys, Miranda etc. soft shite.

On paper I should like AP but I hate it.

OP posts:
Veetfan · 15/01/2022 19:17

@Lipsandlashes

I’m guessing Miranda is more your bag?
And the old (shit) drink threads on here.
daisiesonmydress · 15/01/2022 19:19

Also like Motherland, This Way Up, Catastrophe. Funny women.

Wheresmywoolyjumpers · 15/01/2022 19:23

Cant stand it. Or Monty Python although I can appreciate the comic genius of some of it.

GoldenFondue · 15/01/2022 19:25

'A bin and window competition' hahaha! I love Alan Partridge. I didn't like the most recent talk show but all the old stuff is like a warm hug and still makes me laugh.

scully29 · 15/01/2022 19:26

Oh amazing! this thread has reminded me how genius AP is! whoever answered 'Tits' had me in stitches. Id forgotten the joy depsite having the quotes in my general life as norm. It is genius. OP you need to watch it again. After much wine. The new stuff isnt so good but you need to start from the beginning.

EveMonsoon · 15/01/2022 19:27

Alpha Papa isn’t bad but the tv series are infinitely funnier.

Don’t rub your fanny on me… Grin

PinkiOcelot · 15/01/2022 19:27

I don’t think it’s funny. At all.

BurnDownTheDiscoHangTheDJ · 15/01/2022 19:28

@daisiesonmydress you’re bang out of order and your fog lamps are on (but there’s no fog!)

Hangthetowels · 15/01/2022 19:33

You are bang wrong, he is hilarious!!!

Benjispruce5 · 15/01/2022 19:36

Lots of these phrases are often muttered between DH and me. If I get a bit frisky in an inappropriate setting, DH will call me ‘sex people’ Grin.
Monkey tennis is a common utterance in the summer when we book a court.

Jijithecat · 15/01/2022 19:36

I love the episode where someone graffitis his car with the words 'cock piss Partridge' and it gets changed to 'cook pass Babtridge'.

VonWeasel · 15/01/2022 19:38

Love, love, love AP. It makes me cry with laughter whenever I watch it. I like some of the daft exclamations too . . . Mary, Poppins, what's that?! Jurassic Park. Jackanackanory. Back of the net. Can't help but say them.

The molten apple pie, that could go my way, could go your way . . . either way one of us is going to get hurt. The more to Ireland dan dis and the DAN DAN DAN (especially if you know a Dan) never gets old. Genius and so cleverly written.

This Country is AMAZING too. "Mum, there's no holes in my crumpet" . . . . "Well turn it over then" Grin Just brilliant. Also makes me cry with laughter.

Benjispruce5 · 15/01/2022 19:38

OP I also love Motherland, This Way Up and Catastrophe .
