Holiday booked, can't book leave

In the past year I have gone part time in a job I was previously full time in, and work Monday - Wednesday. I am studying on Thursdays and Fridays.

Last week, our manager sent an email on Wednesday evening, after I had finished work, asking for all leave requests from 1st April to 1st September, and that these would be dealt with on a first come / first served basis. As I wasn't then at work till Monday morning, I didn't email my requests till Monday afternoon (I had to check with my husband for some of it, as we try and cover as much school holiday child care as we can between us).

We had a week away in Spain booked for summer 2020 which we moved to 2021, and then had to move again to 2022. It's paid for, and we have insurance that covers Covid.

Turns out, a colleague has requested the week the holiday has been moved to. It is in my calendar, and had been mentioned to my manager, but I hadn't formerly requested it as leave year doesn't start till 1st April.

@Toanewstart22 "Last week, our manager sent an email on Wednesday evening, after I had finished work, asking for all leave requests from 1st April to 1st September, "
In the second paragraph in the OPE's opening thread

Yes
That would have been the DEADLINE
The holiday booking option wasn’t open for just a day!

That was the deadline so presumably the op could have booked before

This has been covered before.

Official system leave requests for next leave year open on 1st March 2022. I had told manager the dates verbally a year ago when the holiday was moved for the second time (first booked for 2020, then 2021, now 2022). I was prepared, ready for 1st March system opening. Manager, how ever, requested our dates via email early for planning purposes.

Colleague isn't a supportive type, and isn't willing to cancel his holiday.

Manager, while a lovely person, is very much a colour inside the lines type and doesn't understand flexibility. She understands my annoyance at the email coming when I wasn't working for a few days, but "it's done now, and nothing I can do about that".

What a sh!t manager! Hope she gets some training and you get your holiday after 2 years of waiting for it.

I would say you are going higher as they haven't stuck to policy and emailed knowing you were not in and that seems borderline discrimination for being part time
Officially if it doesn't open until march 22 and opened earlier without you knowing you were and are at a disadvantage
Also to many read the op properly and stop blaming them
They have stated numerous times they couldn't book until a set date etc then the goalposts changed

@Toanewstart22 did you not read that was when it opened not the deadline as said numerous times
