EXCLUSIVE

"Number 10 held two boozy parties the night before the Queen mourned Prince Philip alone.

Staff drank and at points danced until the early hours of the night of April 16.

Hours later, the Queen went to a socially-distanced funeral for Philip.

We have spoken to eyewitnesses. At a leaving do for a No10 photographer it’s alleged:

🥂Staff partied in the basement of No10, to music DJd by a special adviser.

🥂One broke Wilf Johnson’s swing in the No10 garden.

🥂Another was sent to the Co-op with a suitcase to buy booze.

Another event held to mark the departure of James Slack, Mr Johnson’s chief spinner, saw:

🍻 Staff gathered for a speech from Slack, with others dialling in via Zoom.

🍻Booze drunk and attendees spilling into the garden.

🍻Chatting and drinking into the early hours.

At the time Britain was in Step 2 of lockdown easing - which banned indoor gatherings and imposed the rule of six outside.

But the celebrations in No10 meant around 30 people were gathered for what a source declares were definitely parties.

Can No10 claim they were work events?

This was the scene in St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle the next day.

Prince Philip’s funeral was restricted to 30 people, and the PM declined to attend, to make more space for family.

The Queen did not participate in the service. "

@jgw1

I understand that if the coffee and the son remain in the kitchen for more than 25minutes then it is his.

And then you've been having a party!

jgw1 · 15/01/2022 08:15

@Roussette

MP's reporting they have been bombarded with emails of complaint about this from angry constituents Yes, I bombarded.
The BBC are reporting that an MP visiting a primary school yesterday was asked by pupils when Big Dog is going to resign.

Roussette · 15/01/2022 08:24

I urge everyone who feels strongly about this Government's behaviour to write to their MP.
It is all we can do, but it matters.
If anyone wants a copy of my email to mine, drop me a PM. It was a masterpiece lol

In that news piece, it says this...
Another senior cabinet minister believes that while MPs are angry, "they are not at the stage when they want to get rid of him"

I just wonder what it is their dear leader has to do for them to think enough is enough.
There is no doubt the likes of May and Major would be out the door by now.
And can you imagine a Labour leader carrying on in these circumstances? They are aways held up to higher standards than a Tory leader.
One bottle of beer versus 13 parties and suitcases of booze and wine fridges

notimagain · 15/01/2022 08:39

Make it clear that under his leadership they will lose their seat at the next election.

Absolutely nothing else matters…

In terms of when/if BJ will go....

I think current planning by possible rivals (Sunak, Truss etc.) is that the Tories are about to get hammered - by the cost of living increase, issues over Northern Ireland (and Brexit imports) and this issue of "When is a party a works 'event'". As such, they see BJ as a lightning rod for the May local elections, and then (they think) they can ride in on a white stallion, blame BJ, and claim the mantle of the One True Tory leader.

As such, I expect more lukewarm support, but no actual moves against him - at least, not by an organised group. It is entirely possible though that a group of back benchers, overwhelmed by the public reaction to this farce, pull the trigger themselves.... in which case all bets are off

Roussette · 15/01/2022 08:57

I had a bit of a 'mare this morning reading that if Liz Truss gets in, she will appoint Rees Mogg as Chancellor.
It's not good to read that on a Saturday morning.

I'm sure those who are being played by the media have already thought about sending a fummin email to their MP and doubt they need help in actually writing one.

I’m not sure Rees Mogg will want the “gig”.

He seems to be very comfortable playing being the power behind the throne (ERG/CRG) with a fair amount of clout in the tea rooms, the media hanging on his every comment but OTOH relatively little formal responsibility.

Roussette · 15/01/2022 09:07

Oh FFS Janiie why are you like this? I do my best to be even and measured with you (not easy at times).

I joked about it being a masterpiece and it was a throwaway comment offering it. For what it's worth, I've had a lot of PMs asking for it, so just jog on.

Played by the media... that comment is getting a bit stale now by the way.

NashvilleQueen · 15/01/2022 09:11

won't be played by the media but very happy to be played by the Tories eh Janiie?

Threewheeler1 · 15/01/2022 09:13

I'm also praying that some miracle relieves us of Mogg here in Somerset. He really is the pits but somehow he has such a huge majority.
I mean, who the hell could vote for that man??
Makes my head boggle and every election I just feel such massive despair that this constituency is inflicting the horror on the rest of the country Sad

SueSaid · 15/01/2022 09:16

It's a waiting game isn't it. See if laws were actually broken or rather errors of judgement were made in the workplace, see how many of the voters are actually being taken in by the media's obvious get Boris out campaign.

I doubt those rattling off shouty emails to Tory MPs actually voted for them in the first place,

SueSaid · 15/01/2022 09:19

Nope. I'm just able to see workplaces always had different rules,. As we know from Starmer's workplace mingling and boozing.,
Roussette · 15/01/2022 09:23

Lol

One bottle of beer with 3 people socially distances versus 13 parties, suitcases of wine, invites to 100 saying 'bring your own booze', basement dancing, apologies to the Queen.... yeah got you Hmm

Howshouldibehave · 15/01/2022 09:31

Nope. I'm just able to see workplaces always had different rules

Not all workplaces. I haven’t heard of any hospital wards or schools where staff were all repeatedly getting pissed during lockdown after a very long day.

But we know that laws were broken. They've admitted to it. What on earth are you waiting for - apart from the Graywash, that is?
the80sweregreat · 15/01/2022 09:37

'Operation save big dog ' is now in full flow no doubt.
Lines drawn up to save Boris's bacon.
I hope that any sacked civil servants over all this don't have to sign any non disclosure agreements ..

justasking111 · 15/01/2022 09:39

I wonder what the drinking culture is in the London police

Threewheeler1 · 15/01/2022 09:41

Apparently that Tory cruel joke Fabricant is claiming that Johnson basically made the vaccine. What a bunch of shameless lying sycophants. They will say and do anything to hang on to power.

DGRossetti · 15/01/2022 09:55

Is it wine time yet ?

NashvilleQueen · 15/01/2022 10:00

Should the Gray investigation conclude that the parties were breaches will you accept that? I mean of course you will still point to two bottles of beer through a constituency office window and that's a given but will you accept the findings should she conclude that the multiple parties at Downing Street were in breach?

Oh absolutely. I prefer evidence and facts though, rather than opinions based on media hysteria that is all.

As I've said throughout if laws were broken it is a serious situation. However workplace gatherings inc alcohol dont appear clear to both political parties so I'll be interested to see what Gray finds.

It's got nothing to do with the Queen sitting 'alone' either (until everyone sat down - 1 place down) because they aren't comparable situations.

I didn't vote Tory. I have written a carefully worded, but angry, email that I have sent to my MP, who is a Tory. I am his constituent. Who else am I supposed to write to?

I didn't 'rattle' it off and it wasn't 'shouty'.

Ditto.

I didn't vote for my MP but she still represents me. That's how the system works.

I also wasn't shouty in the slightest.

Notonthestairs · 15/01/2022 10:19

My extended family WhatsApp group is largely Conservative party members. They are all pro Brexit and voted for Johnson in the leadership election. They turn up to their local association meetings.

I had to mute them for a few hours yesterday because of the sheer volume of anti Boris memes. They've been exchanging views of who they think should take over since before Christmas.

It's a tiny sample size of members obviously and maybe they are out of step with their fellow members but it's been interesting listening to them. I have no doubt they've written to their MP's and the local chairs.
