I have left Ocado

I have been a regular customer for around 7 years, since delivery began in my area.
I was unable to get deliveries for about 3 months during the first lockdown. No problem as other people needed them more.
Really wasn't keen on the switch to M&S because I loved the Waitrose range and expensive ready meals aren't my thing.
We were told that an equivalent would be available for most products.

That is certainly not the case and lots of other brand products have disappeared.
It is also far more expensive and very few offers. One item I buy regularly used to be 2 for £7 now they are £4.40 each.
I really miss Waitrose essentials Sad
Anyone else jumped ship?

@sadpapercourtesan

Oh.

Sympathies, OP. Some sort of, er, ceremony would seem to be in order.

like folding the carrier bags like coffin flags and ceremonially returning them? Grin

@Sparklingbrook

Wine for everyone who for some unknown reason this thread has annoyed.
its brightened my day no end
Somebodylikeyew · 13/01/2022 20:53

I left recently too. Half the website seemed to be out of stock every week.

Chocomelon · 13/01/2022 20:55

I thought Morrisons wasn't operated by Ocado anymore or at least on our area it isn't since last year and that's when I switched to Ocado

But I also preferred it when it was partnered with waitrose

It's expensive and I'm tempted to try waitrose

Sparklingbrook · 13/01/2022 20:55

@Whadda

I’ve never seen an Ocado flounce before.
Been quite a day. Boris, Andrew and now this.
Ilovetommycat · 13/01/2022 21:11

At least the op isn't lying Grin

llanssannan · 13/01/2022 21:12

Your choice.

I don't fly with Ryanair.

Anonyrodent · 13/01/2022 21:20

Yes, I was with them a long time, 10 years or so. Smart Pass holder. Not the biggest spender initially but certainly £100-£140/week by the time I left.

First lockdown couldn’t get a delivery slot, our regular weekly slot was cancelled.

Couldn’t get a Christmas slot.

Didn’t like the switch to M&S

The “basics” were often out of stock forcing us to buy more expensive options.

So I left!

We mainly use Sainsburys as we can get £1 saver slot deliveries. They’ve been very good.

Once a month we’ll do a Waitrose one too. They are still my preferred choice but our local store where the delivery comes from is small and stock is limited. Which is annoying because about half a mile further in distance but closer in drive time is a bigger store. I often do click and collect because of this which makes Sainsburys more convenient. The Waitrose charge for delivery is annoying too as there is no way to reduce it like a pass or choose a cheaper slot like the Sainsburys ones.

If Ocado teamed back up with Waitrose I’d go back, just to get the wider range of Waitrose goods that my local stores don’t stock.

Bignanny30 · 13/01/2022 21:20

Stopped using them for much the same reasons as most others - couldn’t get deliveries during lockdown despite being registered as vulnerable. And m&s don’t do the stuff I like from Waitrose. Sainsburys actually emailed me during the first lockdown and offered me priority bookings as I was vulnerable (I had shopped with them in the past too) yet I go no such thing from Ocado despite using them for 2-3 years at that point. I use sainsburys most of the time now.

@Vanuatu

Why is it reasonable to comment on a thread when you have nothing to say?
because it looks like that's the theme of the thread? You've had some helpful answers though, presumably you didn't know Waitrose deliver? Now you do. Problem solved!
Ilovetommycat · 13/01/2022 21:26

Is that you Shirley haha

Innocenta · 13/01/2022 21:28

I use Waitrose and Ocado semi-alternately - for me that seems to be the best of both worlds. Totally agree that the switch to M&S was awful!

Innocenta · 13/01/2022 21:30

I was lucky and did get CEV deliveries during lockdowns, plus a Christmas slot, but I don't think they're as good as they were.

Ohsugarhoneyicetea · 13/01/2022 21:45

I'm thinking of dumping them too. Half the things I buy have gone up in price by 50p-£2 each. The cost is just ridiculous compared to other places now, especially considering thats on top of paying £10 for the delivery. I dislike most of the M&S stuff and you cannot buy fruit or veg from them as it always arrives rotten, bruised and inedible.

Fraine · 13/01/2022 21:51

I'm sure you are aware Waitrose have a delivery service.

I don’t think OP was aware Waitrose had a delivery service 🤣

Disclaimer: neither was I, we have never food shopped online.

Delphinium90 · 14/01/2022 23:01

@Clarissa76

I’m still using Ocado although like you I preferred it when they stocked Waitrose products. I now do a very occasional shop with Waitrose online just to stock up on the bits Ocado don’t sell. I wouldn’t switch entirely though as Waitrose are far worse for missing products and substitutions in my experience.
We do exactly the same thing now and have mix between Ocado and the occasional Waitrose delivery. We weren't happy with the Ocado partnership changeover to M&S and luckily Waitrose extended their deliveries to our area at around the same time.However,there have been numerous missing products and substitutions from Waitrose and I never feel 100% confident when ordering that I'm going to get everything I need. I don't want to ditch Ocado entirely because I do like many items that they stock,and also their non-food lines.
Shadedog · 14/01/2022 23:19

I switched to Waitrose when Ocado lost their shit over posie’s “woman - adult human female” billboard. I really liked Ocado’s app (might try Morrisons) but I tend to only get a delivery about every 6 weeks and top up in Aldi now. I’m lucky though as I have a chest freezer and an excellent fruit and veg stall on site at work. Waitrose send vouchers but you have to spend a lot to use them, but I do as I tend to get a few huge deliveries.

WeDontTalkAboutBruno · 14/01/2022 23:38

I've got the £3.99 pass and tend to use them every other week with a waitrose slot in between.
I can't warm to M&S either so I tend to fill the freezer from waitrose and use ocado for essentials and Christmas.
My local waitrose isn't the biggest so stock can be an issue or I think I'd fully switch.
