I have left Ocado

I have been a regular customer for around 7 years, since delivery began in my area.
I was unable to get deliveries for about 3 months during the first lockdown. No problem as other people needed them more.
Really wasn't keen on the switch to M&S because I loved the Waitrose range and expensive ready meals aren't my thing.
We were told that an equivalent would be available for most products.

That is certainly not the case and lots of other brand products have disappeared.
It is also far more expensive and very few offers. One item I buy regularly used to be 2 for £7 now they are £4.40 each.
I really miss Waitrose essentials Sad
Anyone else jumped ship?

I only really use Ocado because they take PayPal and usually sell the random ingredients I can't find locally. But my god, everything seems to be out of stock on there these days!

Holeyscarf · 13/01/2022 20:18

Anyone else notice it’s the same few twats?

sadpapercourtesan · 13/01/2022 20:19

What? Did you work for them or something?

Confused

No OP used them for home delivery, and has now left them to look for other options...

I can only assume everyone's in a a bad mood because of Andrew and Boris? Confused
sadpapercourtesan · 13/01/2022 20:20

Oh.

Sympathies, OP. Some sort of, er, ceremony would seem to be in order.

YANBU OP. We’ve stuck with Ocado for convenience but we still shop in store for a lot of stuff as it’s cheaper.
LondonQueen · 13/01/2022 20:23

I love Ocado. Not too fussed about the move to Marks and Spencer's, but did prefer the Waitrose range.

Holeyscarf · 13/01/2022 20:23

@Sparklingbrook must be, I hope everyone is ok and feels better now.

wakinguptosunshine · 13/01/2022 20:24

2 for £7...is that the smoked salmon? Smile

nordica · 13/01/2022 20:25

I preferred the Waitrose stuff too. M&S is nice for treats but not so good for everyday basics, especially their fruit and veg seems terrible quality on Ocado.

I like that everything comes from a warehouse though and generally there aren't many missing items or subs. Annoyingly when something is missing then it's usually something quite important and specific that they haven't been able to substitute.

Sparklingbrook · 13/01/2022 20:25

I am surprised nobody has tried to shoehorn Boris or Andrew or both into this thread. Or Covid maybe?

Holeyscarf · 13/01/2022 20:27

@Sparklingbrook I think this is a Brexit moment that you missed.

AlexanderArnold · 13/01/2022 20:28

Same. We now do a big shop with Aldi for all the essentials and then a Waitrose delivery for anything we can't get in Aldi. Works well for us!

avocadotofu · 13/01/2022 20:29

We left around 18 months ago and use Waitrose now. We're much happier now.

JassyRadlett · 13/01/2022 20:29

They tested my long-term loyalty early in the pandemic when they were ‘tiering’ smart pass customers to get access to deliveries (but wouldn’t refund the smart pass…)

I then ditched them after the M&S switch but tbh it had been going downhill anyway.

Waitrose deliveries are great. Very few substitutions, def fewer than with Ocado.

Newrunner29 · 13/01/2022 20:30

I also left ocado as didnt like m and s and was just so much more expensive went to waitrose, then beginning of December we swapped to aldi as wanted to save bit of money for Christmas and we love it! If we didnt have a budget id go back to waitrose they were lovely.

Colderthanever · 13/01/2022 20:32

To be honest, I’m quite a big spender with Ocado and they do treat me well, gifts, vouchers, and very few substitutions or out of stocks, but I also preferred the Waitrose range.

olivehater · 13/01/2022 20:35

Morrison’s is the next best delivery service in terms of reliability.
I found the waitrose one very unreliable but obviously if it’s waitrose food you are after then that’s the obvious choice.
If you are organised enough it’s good
To alternate between the two.

Eukanuba · 13/01/2022 20:36

Have returned to Ocado , I like the smart pass at £8 per month , I did have waitrose for a while , but felt guilty as the drivers always expressed their stress at delivering to my end of the city , I'm ridiculous I know

batmanladybird · 13/01/2022 20:44

Me too. Also we can't really afford it
But i didn't like the changes

Crankley · 13/01/2022 20:44

I'm the reverse.

I was with Tesco for years, tried Ocado, they said they tried to deliver and took food back, I refused to try them again. Tescos pissed me off a couple of months ago and I like M&S so decided to give Ocado another chance. I order from them and Waitrose alternate weeks and it works perfectly.

Not sure why you need to flounce about them on here. Why don't you just do a Waitrose delivery if you like them so much. It's not rocket science is it.

godmum56 · 13/01/2022 20:49

@Whadda

I’ve never seen an Ocado flounce before.
lol
