To think it’s about bloody time the Queen acted?

Her golden boy has just clearly not voluntarily been relieved of his military titles and royal patronages and is no longer going to be an HRH.

AIBU to think she waited far too long to take action, and that if PA had succeeded in having VG’s civil suit dismissed she’d have let him get away with it?

As I just posted on the main Andrew thread

"it had become inevitable - surprised it took them this long in the first place, but it had to be done before the Jubilee, didn't it?"

"He'll have no role in any of the Jubilee stuff now, and will just be another besuited person if there's anything to which the whole wider family is invited (there's bound to be a service of Thanksgiving, inst there? So perhaps that and nowt else)"

the80sweregreat · 13/01/2022 17:32

It's too late , but it's sent a message..
Now , I just wish that the £300,000 a year that the taxpayer has to cough up for his security was also withdraw too.

DisforDarkChocolate · 13/01/2022 17:43

He's finally told Mummy the full facts. I think the Queen waited far too long but this is more decisive than I thought she'd be. I think Charles pushed for this, with Anne's backing.

She surely must have known for a while?!

Let’s just be grateful it’s happened.

JanuaryBluehoo · 13/01/2022 18:04

I don't think it's about the full facts at all.

He's always presented her as a gold digger.

It's just public and legal the shifty bastards

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 13/01/2022 18:07

What do you expect the 'bloody' Queen to 'bloody' do about it?

She has nothing to do with the judicial system in this country, let alone the US.

TheKeatingFive · 13/01/2022 18:14

Sounds like the petition from the veterans forced her hand. I bet she was most reluctant.

Though stripping him of titles prior to the jubilee/court case was probably necessary.

TheKeatingFive · 13/01/2022 18:15

if PA had succeeded in having VG’s civil suit dismissed she’d have let him get away with it?

Yes probably

Does he have round the clock bodyguards? I'm pretty sure, watching a programme a couple of years ago that only those in direct succession have 24/7 security ie: The Queen, Prince Charles, and William Kate &children. I believe that the others only have security when they are carrying out Royal duties. I think Andrew wanted the tax payer to protect Beatrice and Eugenie round the clock but was told where to stick it !!

I feel sorry for the Queen. I'm a republican and would get rid of the whole system, but even I can see that she isn't responsible for her son's actions. Imagine having to deal with this sort of stuff coming out about one of your children in your 90s.

Yes, the action is overdue but she was probably in denial for ages. Most of us would probably struggle to believe that our own children could do something so abhorrent.

Tiredan · 13/01/2022 18:24

I can't be doing with the Royal Family at all but it must be horrible for the Queen.
I also can't understand having a favourite child but the poor old body must be so hurt and let down by PA.

I agree with this 100%.

Yup
Mamamia7962 · 13/01/2022 18:33

Tiredan - The Queen has never said Prince Andrew is her favourite child, it's just what other people have said, so just others' opinions. Some people have said Prince Edward is her favourite.

OP didn’t call her ‘bloody’ Queen.

Umm - did you read the thread title???

anon12345678901 · 13/01/2022 18:47

We cannot hold parents responsible for their adult children's behaviour. It must be awful to hear something like this about your child, especially if they protest their innocence. I feel very sorry for her.

TheWernethWife · 13/01/2022 18:47

it’s about bloody time

That's what the title thread said, not the bloody queen

TheKeatingFive · 13/01/2022 18:50

I can't bring myself to feel much sympathy for the Queen. He's clearly been indulged and pandered to his whole life and she's done nothing to rein him in. In fact she's shown public support for him at key moments when it really wasn't appropriate.

Totally agree. Her age does not mean we won’t scrutinise how the Firm handle this.
GloriousGoosebumps · 13/01/2022 18:53

I wouldn't be so sure that the Queen was the driving force behind this development. I believe Prince Charles and Prince William joined forces to protect the Monarchy and gave the Queen a push in the right direction.

Sparklingbrook · 13/01/2022 18:53

Isn't there a topic for all this?

RoseAndRose · 13/01/2022 18:54

Yes I can, but the dyslexia does make words hop a little

Sorry everyone!!
