I’ve been giving the builders nespresso coffee and it’s grating on me and my pocket a bit! Is it super tight if go out and i buy them instant?

Depends how long they are there for.
We have a local one who we get as need and just tend to offer him good old tea. If he is there or any other tradesperson we will offer food when we are eating..

We are due a tiler in at the end of the month ( I hope) and will ask if he brings his lunchbox or wants meals. Dh has always done this..
We are not big coffee drinkers here.

I made my builders posh coffee for a while but then my mum made them an instant from her stash, and they much preferred the instant and very politely asked me to stop with the posh coffee 🤣🤷‍♀️

Our builders won't get posh coffee from me anyway as I don't know how to operate the machine (I only drink tea)

Well I would rather drink a cup of piss but since you're not a coffee shop then it's fine. You're under no obligation to give them any drinks. They are grown adults with money, land access to vehicles and shops, they can go buy coffee if they care what kind they are getting.

I cringe at the suggestion that it's ok to give tradesmen something you wouldn't drink yourself.

See this makes me laugh. I don't drink either tea or coffee, think they're both vile, but I make sure I have cheap tea/coffee in if we're having any work done to be polite.

By that logic I should be only offering water and the occasional squash.

Fuck me, the bar for men is laughably low even when it comes to women who are paying them do jobs for them it seems. They will become demotivated and not do their jobs properly if you don’t provide ‘proper’ coffee, bacon butties and an endless supply of chocolate biscuits it seems.

Whatever happened to a large cup of tea and a bacon roll ? I'm pretty sure that's half the reason our joiner used to very promptly arrive at 8am.
