AIBU to not understand why children have to wear masks all day in school, yet adults can drink & dance in crowded nightclubs whilst not wearing masks?

I'm finding it increasingly hard to support the rules when they don't make sense-my children are old enough to ask questions and this one I have no answer for. Yes we want to keep teachers & children safe but the double standards just seem illogical. Anyone know what the rules are in lap dancing clubs?

Economic reasons, plus vaccinations and covid passes.

Plus there's probably more DC in school than there is in nightclubs. Plus DC go to school 5 days a week for 6 hours a day. Almost no-one will be clubbing for 30 hours a week so the 'person hours' in night clubs is probably tiny in comparison.

There will be some element of 'the longer you are exposed the more chance you have of catching covid' so the risk to the population from clubbing will be tiny compared to that of DC in school.

Totally ineffective

Not true

And anyone who is vulnerable has choice to be vaccinated

Though of course there are these who are immune suppressed who might not form a response to the vaccine. They, their DC and their households need not go to clubs etc. But the DC still need an education, in as low risjpkman environment as can be achieved

Revenue.

But also they want to keep kids physically in schools so I guess it’s logical.

@millymolls

Completely disagree that masks should be worn on schools Totally ineffective And anyone who is vulnerable has choice to be vaccinated. But to your question it’s just virtue signalling politics. Simple.
Not everyone can have the vaccine so masks are a good step to keep them safe. If they were ineffective, no one in the nhs or medical roles would ever wear them. Children should be resilient enough to cope with wearing masks in schools. Do you often make statements with no fact or point? You shouldn't x

Article in The times today saying the government's own research does not prove masks in schools make a great difference-its more about appearances. Masks are meant to be changed regularly to be kept hygienic-how many kids are just wearing the same mask all day after being shoved in a pocket at lunch time?
I'm not convinced its a great idea, and the thought of having to wear a mask all day in lessons is depressing beyond belief. Kids need to be able to see each others faces to read expressions etc.

Lap dancing clubs aren't classed as nightclubs. There's no dance floor for customers to dance on. I have many friends who work in these clubs. Amongst staff and dancers the only Covid cases have been in unvaccinated staff. And these weren't consecutively or at the same time. This would indicate that Covid was caught elsewhere and lap dancing clubs are not a huge vector for infection. Obviously this is only across five clubs that I know about.

Yes I think it’s because it’s compulsory to be at school.

The masks are to keep the children safe not to punish or be cruel to them. They keep each other safe by wearing them.

If you force someone to be somewhere (like school) it’s extra important to make it as safe as I can be.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 07/01/2022 10:31

I’m not saying I know whether it works or not, I just mean that’s the thinking

Looneytune253 · 07/01/2022 10:32

Probably because the nightclub is adult personal choice but schools are compulsory and children
