To think January and February are weird months?

I've just gone to the supermarket and it's virtually empty, and it's got me thinking.

Does anyone else just find January and February weird?
Christmas and New Year is over so there's not much to look forward to for those who celebrate. The majority of people are skint, everywhere is so quiet, it's absolutely freezing and gets dark early. Idk I feel so bleh!

Am I the only one who finds it really eerie?

This is why i like following the Christian calendar (I realise there are lots of different dates for these things within Christianity, but this is what we do...)

Advent for the first 4 weeks of December, no Christmas food or decorations (in the house) till just before the 25th.

Christmas, all 12 days of feasting and epiphany on the 6th Jan.
No diets or resolutions about exercise, alcohol etc at new year.

Continue celebrating Christmas in a lesser sense until 2nd Feb.

Then not long till lent, when I find it far easier to make the new year type resolutions. (Spring is on the way, the weather is not so cold and dark)

Then Easter and it's practically summer again!

We also have 5 immediate family birthday in Jan and Feb, so as soon as Jan starts I'm back in present buying mode!

My birthday is in February so it's my favorite month of the year

its a brilliant month, the light really comes back during those 28 days with a minute a day at dawn and dusk - its so much lighter and that makes me happy to be in February

Oh I love January and February! Everything feels full of hope and optimism!! You've got loads of new stuff to enjoy from Christmas like a new perfume and new PJs for example that make the daily grind life more of a pleasure. You're trying to eat better and move more which is a mood booster too. I naturally turn quite reflective too, counting my blessings and celebrating my achievements of the previous year - and often read more books as my social life is quieter so I get more downtime. It's also a lovely feeling after the whirlwind of December to have a less packed to do list (as it's not full of Christmas to dos!) and so I feel I have less on my plate, plus it's seen as totally fine to just hunker down with your household to recover from Christmas which I see as lovely routine filled quality time. The house feels fresh and clean after taking down the Christmas decorations and getting a thorough clean. The kids are occupied with new toys from Christmas. Today is a lovely January day - blue skies, sunny, cold with frost on the ground this morning. I had a beautiful walk this morning with the dog and toddler and was thinking how much I love this time of year!!!
This is exactly how I feel. I walked into work today and everything seems so clean and the crisp, cool fresh air Smile Came home and the tree is down and DH has cleaned so the house is lovely. Bulbs starting to poke their heads through the soil. The light is returning -15 minutes a week.
