to spend £150 on noise (ie snore)-cancelling ear buds

Didnt know where to put this for most traffic.

Has anyone tried this product or similar?

quieton.com/shop/quieton-2-earbuds/

Husband snores and I am a light sleeper (I am a snorer myself so I am not being a dick about it! :D )

At moment only way works is if we sleep separately which I dont want permanently.

We've tried snore strips that help a bit and I use foam ear plugs but I want something more powerful. Can still hear him with those.

to be honest I can afford it and happy to pay if it will actually work. sleep is so important. I dont want to sleep in spare room forever!

Have you suggested he sees a doctor before you waste £150?

violetbunny · 04/01/2022 16:15

I have the Bose Sleep Buds as DP snores, he doesn't usually snore super loud but they do help cancel out the noise he does make.

Has your husband sought help from a GP? I would try to find out the root cause of the snoring first to treat it properly. In DPs case it's due to a deviated septum, which is going to require surgery to correct.

TheHatInTheCat · 04/01/2022 16:24

Have you tried the silicone earplugs? Boots sell them.
Will try and do a link, foam ones are useless but these have transformed my life!!!

ifherbumwereabungalow · 04/01/2022 16:26

I have some Sony ones from Sainsbury's that cost me £8. They have rubberised kind of 'plunger' things that fit snugly in my ears. They have changed my life with regards to my husbands snoring interrupting my sleep!

stokiemum62 · 04/01/2022 16:29

I use sleephones and play white noise. Ears got sore with buds in all night. These have been a marriage saver.

Notthemessiah · 04/01/2022 16:37

Please be sure to post here and let us know if they do work, should you decide to buy them. I've tried many different ear plugs over the years and none have been able to successfully keep out enough noise that I don't end up retreating to the sofa or the spare room. None have cost £150 though!

NumberTheory · 04/01/2022 16:43

I would check first that you can sleep with earbuds (of any type) in your ears. They’re different from earplugs as the hard plastic puts more uneven pressure on bits of your ear. Hope you find a solution, though. Sleep deprivation sucks!

ocpwr · 04/01/2022 16:45

Unfortunately i snore and the Bose Sleep Buds have helped my husbands sleep, he's a very light sleeper.
He would definitely recommend them.

Sausagedogsarethebest · 04/01/2022 16:46

Are these actually meant to be used when sleeping in bed OP? They mention for use during travel, when you're not leaning on the side of your head. Personally I find it very uncomfortable to sleep with anything solid in my ears. I used to use wax earplugs when my husband snored. Warm them up in your hands for a minute to make them pliable then plug them in your ears so that they fit the shape completely. I found them really good.

mrsbyers · 04/01/2022 16:49

Which ear plugs have you tried ? I use industrial ones and while I can still hear him when it’s bad (from a separate room incidentally) it’s not enough to stop me from sleeping

tiredofthisshit21 · 04/01/2022 16:50

@stokiemum62 which ones do you have? I have noise cancelling airpods but couldn't possibly sleep in them as they would be too uncomfortable.

Blueeyedgirl21 · 04/01/2022 16:51

I use Jabra 85t wireless headphones. I fall asleep every single night listening to podcasts with them in, for over a year. I usually find them under my pillow or scattered about the bed but I’ve not lost one yet

LondonWolf · 04/01/2022 16:54

I really wouldn’t spend so much money. I use these and they’re very effective. You can get them on Amazon. They’ve saved my sanity against selfish, noisy neighbours.

How about you both see a doctor to get sleep studies done and find out the cause of the snoring? Sleep apnoea can kill. CPAP machines aren't cheap but not having your throat collapse while sleeping is worth it.

You can get the machines from the NHS

Thanks all. Will investigate these options and update!

The Bose Sleep Buds 2 have honestly changed my life. £8 wax ear plugs and the like are a completely different thing. I’d honestly tried everything, wax, foam, sleeping with a fan on all night. These are the ANSWER. Yes they cost a lot but what price can you put on a good night’s sleep?! Plus they have a 90 day return guarantee if they don’t work for you.

This ^^

tiredofthisshit21 I have the Bluetooth sleephones the acoustic sheep ones. The ear phones are flat squares that lie against the ear inside a soft headband so very comfortable to lie on your side and they don’t fall out. Great for on planes too. They cause bad bed hair but worth it for a decent nights sleep. OH sleeps better too because I am not always poking him to get him to roll over.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 04/01/2022 17:57

Twenty quid on some high attenuation ear filters for sound engineers would be better for sleep and your bank balance.

I’ve gone to look at them on Amazon and the reviews aren’t that great. I’d love to try them but not prepared to pay that much and it’s such a faff to return if they’re unsuitable.

Boots wax earplugs got me through 3 babies left to cry through the night in a house next door. They work best changed daily, but will stretch a few days if money is tight.
