Didnt know where to put this for most traffic.

Has anyone tried this product or similar?

Husband snores and I am a light sleeper (I am a snorer myself so I am not being a dick about it! :D )

At moment only way works is if we sleep separately which I dont want permanently.

We've tried snore strips that help a bit and I use foam ear plugs but I want something more powerful. Can still hear him with those.

to be honest I can afford it and happy to pay if it will actually work. sleep is so important. I dont want to sleep in spare room forever!

I bought mine in Primark. £1 for a set of 6. Perfect.

I second the suggestion to see your GP. Roughly half of snorers have undiagnosed sleep apnoea.

My DH was a sporadic, and not particularly loud snorer - it didn’t bother me, or so I thought. But him not breathing did, so I eventually persuaded him to see the GP, and in due course he was diagnosed and supplied with a CPAP machine. Only then did I realise just how much he used to snore, because it completely stopped.

Be careful if the silicone ones.... My SIL got one stuck in her hear during summer and it took a walk in centre and 2 different hospital A&Es to get the damn thing out as it needed an ENT specialist. Apparently, its really common for those wearing because of snoring partners. Her body temp had caused it to expand.

Hearprotek 2 Pairs Sleep earbuds,... www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0832K9P66?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share&tag=mumsnetforu03-21

I swear by these sleep earphones. Cost me £16 for two sere.
I have a sleep timer on my phone so I can listen to music or the radio for an hour until I fall asleep.

TinySaltLick · 04/01/2022 22:35

Another vote for silicone, which coupled with white noise covers up everything. Can wear them all night no issues

If your only experience of ear plugs are foam ones - these are orders of magnitude better

thefirstmrsrochester · 04/01/2022 22:35

My DH snores like a bull elephant, I suspect sleep apnoea actually but he will not go to the GP (not that you can get an appointment right now anyway). He refused to accept how disruptive it was, if I fell asleep before him, he’d wake me up, if he was sleeping before me I would be lucky to get a couple of hours sleep even using nytol etc. I had ear plugs made bespoke by an audiologist. And I could still hear the fucker as loud as anything.

What has made things marginally better is him getting his ears vacuumed. Now he wakes himself up with his own racket and manages to reposition himself so he isn’t woken again by his own snoring.

Hankunamatata · 04/01/2022 22:36

I like the acoustic sheep headband as I play white noise. Unfortunately iv developed a snore that is keeping dh awake - I have been to dr and referred to ent and now face goodness knows how long waiting list

RedMozzieYellowMozzie · 04/01/2022 22:39

Home bargains does the silicone ones much cheaper than boots I think it's about £2 for 6 pairs

Nongatron · 04/01/2022 22:40

@violetbunny I agree the Bose sleep buds are brilliant Smile

EmoIsntDead · 04/01/2022 22:55

You can get customised sleeping earplugs made for you at Specsavers. They take moulds of your ears so they fit perfectly. I had them made few years ago and it was the best £120 I ever spent!

I needed them replaced during the height of covid lockdown in 2020 and found these ones excellent three layered earplugs

RampantIvy · 04/01/2022 23:29

Please try and persuade your DH to see a GP @thefirstmrsrochester.

DH has sleep apnoea. Listening to him stopping breathing at night (after being woken up by his loud snoring) was very frightening. I nagged hom to see his GP, who referred hom to the sleep clininc. He did a sleep study where they discovered that he was having 50 non breathing episodes an hour. This is very dangerous, especially if the sufferer is driving the next day. It can also be a factor in strokes and heart attacks.

We don't know whether DH's stroke was caused by his sleep apnoea or whether the sleep apnoea caused the stroke. He is not overweight, and his consultant doesn't know why he has sleep apnoea.

He now uses a CPAP machine, and has a medical driving licence which is reviewed every year.

FlyingSoHigh · 05/01/2022 00:33

I have trained myself to sleep in noise cancelling headphones. Game changer for me.

Fluenty · 05/01/2022 00:38

If someone said you will sleep well for £150
You’d do it wouldn’t you!

I would check the frequency of typical snoring and then the freq that those earbuds block though as I had some ear buds and I could definitely hear DP still. V v quietly, but definitely still there

Rtmhwales · 05/01/2022 00:41

I have one of those cheap headbands with the build in speakers. Makes it easy to sleep without hurting my ears. Was like £8. Connects to my phone or iPad which I leave on a continuous loop of white noise. Has saved my life and sanity. And DP's life else I'd suffocate him.

ABitOfAShitShow · 05/01/2022 00:57

[quote LondonWolf]I really wouldn’t spend so much money. I use these and they’re very effective. You can get them on Amazon. They’ve saved my sanity against selfish, noisy neighbours.

These are the gold standard. They’re the only ones that properly work for me.

That said, I only use earplugs occasionally as they all make my ears a bit sore.
