Aunt trying to make me sleep!!!!

Hello, my name is Rory and I'm 8 months old.

I have a very real problem and I need your help.

I am tired. And my aunt- get this- is trying to GET ME TO NAP!!!

I know. I know. But she doesn't have kids yet so I guess I can't blame her ignorance. As every self-respecting baby knows, the only acceptable way to deal with tiredness is to SHOUT ABOUT IT. But still she insists on snuggling with me and trying to get me to sleep.

I've tried everything to get her to understand. I've dug my little hands into her chest to push myself up. I've made the most annoying whinging noise I can muster. I've taken my dummy out and hit myself around the head with it. I've even tried to crawl to my sister to annoy her while she's trying to chill with the ipad.

Nothing is working.

How do I deal with this woman's unreasonable behaviour!?

Go to sleep them poo 4 minutes later

SalsaLove · 03/01/2022 15:52

Fake it, hun. Then when she leaves the room grab your feet and stare at the ceiling while making bubbles. It’s great fun!

ShakeMaTail · 03/01/2022 15:53

Yeah fake it til you make it. Its the only way to stop her from crying.

user1471462428 · 03/01/2022 15:53

Bite her it fixes everything

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 03/01/2022 15:54

Make her put you in the pram then go for a nice walk in the fresh air.

Hyenaormeercat · 03/01/2022 15:54

😂

OhGiveUp · 03/01/2022 15:56

Hi Rory. It's a tricky one. If I were you I would carry on as you are until you hear the bath running or your meal being warmed up, then I would go to sleep as it's just about ready.
Oh, and don't forget to give your aunt a well aimed smack with your toy. Bonus points if you manage to black her eye. 😊

KindergartenKop · 03/01/2022 15:57

Definitely go for a nice walk. Your sister might enjoy seeing the remnants of Christmas lights too.

MrsTerryPratchett · 03/01/2022 15:59

Whatever you do don't let her stroke the bit at the top of your nose/bottom of your forehead. That shit is like morphine.

TheUnexpectedPickle · 03/01/2022 16:00

@user1471462428 I bit her a couple of days ago, she forgot I've got my bottom teeth. I think I peaked too soon, she's going nowhere near my mouth now.

@OhGiveUp that's an AMAZING idea. That way my mummy will be super annoyed by the late nap too AND it means I can refuse to seep at bed time. You're a genius.

Hi Rory, if you hear the rattle of car keys you are in big trouble. Whatever you do don't let her put you in the car seat and take you into the car or you'll be sparko in minutes. This is the time for the explosive nappy manoeuvre. One that requires a shower. Then when she's putting your nappy on, try the wee fountain. She'll persevere, so once you're dressed would be a good time to bring back your last feed. Hopefully once she's sorted all that out, SHE'LL fall asleep on the sofa and you can carry on partying.
Good luck little man, you'll need it, she sounds very trying x

Thatsplentyjack · 03/01/2022 16:12

Have you tried screaming at the top of your voice, or, even better, try hitting her around the head with your dummy?

TurkeyRoastvBubbleandSqueek · 03/01/2022 16:17

Hi Sweetheart, I haven't got any helpful hints I'm afraid, but can I just say that you sound adorable, and that your Aunt sounds lovely too!
I am sure she just wants to help you feel better so why don't you be extra sweet for your lovely aunt, and at least just close your eyes and just feel with delight how loved you are ❤

fabulousathome · 03/01/2022 16:18

Adults are so controlling.

Just smile and giggle, as if she's amused you, and she won't be able to resist your charms. If you can manage it, smile and say UP! or point.

iheartredsquirrels · 03/01/2022 16:27

Rory, you sound adorable, what is wrong with aunty ?let her sleep and you party on!

CPL593H · 03/01/2022 16:33

C'mon Rory, you must be feeling a bit sick? Tiny bit? You know by now that stale regurgitated milk is more dangerous than nuclear waste and she will have to put you down to go and change burn her clothes

Craftycorvid · 03/01/2022 16:33

Hi Rory, I have no idea re your auntie but, based on your experiences, I think I may also be 8 months old. I have just had a tantrum due to being bored with the holiday/not wanting the holiday to end/it not being cold enough for January/dust/the dark. Do you think I could be tired? DH gone off in bewilderment.....

Grin
Knittedfairies · 03/01/2022 16:39

You need to practice feigning sleep. Wait until she puts you down and tries to creep away silently... Wait for her knee to crack then give her a smile - gummy, if you're short on teeth - on full beam.

Dozer · 03/01/2022 16:41

Feed rory!

Purplewithred · 03/01/2022 16:45

@Craftycorvid You definitely need a nap right now, ideally somewhere that stops everyone else getting comfortable/watching the tv (sofa in front of the fire is ideal). Better tell DH you will need a nice hot cup of tea and the last of the nice Quality Street as soon as you show any signs of stirring but that he is not to wake you up on pain of you being In A Grump while insisting Nothing is Wrong for several days.

GlassHalfFullView · 03/01/2022 16:46

LTB

Spudlet · 03/01/2022 16:48

I remember those days, Rory. Adults are weirdly obsessed with naps - I think it has some connection to having cups of tea or something? Dunno. Anyway. Just stick her out, she’ll give up eventually. 😈

Remember, it’s fine to let your adults cry it out if they get grizzly around nap time. It won’t do them any harm. My mummy is 6 years down the line from nap time now and she’s very nearly stopped twitching when people mention it.

Craftycorvid · 03/01/2022 16:54

@Purplewithred 🤣. Must try this!

SleepingStandingUp · 03/01/2022 16:57

Don't do it Rory. She'll eat and drink and you won't even get dibs. You are not a baby, you're a big boy. Don't take her nonsense. Can you muster up a poonami?
