To think I haven't caught it from DH?

So DH tested positive NYE after developing symptoms on Thursday. Prior to that we both had our boosters on Monday 27th and just assumed we were feeling a bit rotten due to the side effects of that. I obviously had been sharing a bed etc with him up to that point as no reason to assume either of us had Covid.

I have now developed symptoms since Saturday and just been for PCR this morning. AIBU to think I just have a totally unrelated cough/headache/sneezing thats not the dreaded C?! I haven't been anywhere since Xmas eve barring the local shop for some milk but DH has been back to work

I don't know why you're even thinking about it. If the test is positive, you almost certainly got it from your husband. If it's a garden variety cold, you could have got it from anywhere.

Why is it important? Genuine question.
If I get, I won’t give a hoot who it could be!

I just wanted to ask if anyone else had been in a similar position of having been in close contact with a positive case and having symptoms but testing negative

I’ve heard of people testing negative, I don’t know if they ended up being positive or not.

There’s also people on different threads that were both positive but one got over it a lot quicker than the other - so they both test positive and then one tests negative but the other one remains positive.

If you’re negative It could be that you have a better immune system or you were asymptomatic and gave it to DH.
It could be that you both have a different illness but DH happens to have covid as well.

My brother lives alone and one of his work colleagues tested positive - he then got symptoms and tested positive so it’s likely he got it from that person, however the rest of them tested and over half were positive so it could have come from any of them. Or my brother could have picked it up from somewhere and passed it on to all them.

I don’t think it’s really ever possible to tell who you got it from for definite.

The most likely answer is usually the right answer op. If your DH is positive, you’ve been sharing space and now you have symptoms, what makes you think it’s more likely a common cold and not Covid?

whoever thought mass clinics were a sensible idea wants a lecture on how Covid spreads.

And yet none of the figures show these are superspreader events. Just to balance your anecdata, nobody I know has caught covid going for their vaccination.

It’s possible OP … but more likely you caught the very infectious illness from the person you’ve been sharing a bed / bathroom / kitchen with! Hope you both feel ok.

Yes, my DH had all the same cold/runny nose symptoms as me and they started within 5 days of me testing positive so you'd think definitely covid..... but 3 LFTs and 2 PCRs all said negative!!

The only symptoms I had that he didn't was dizziness and nausea, which makes me wonder whether the "cold" symptoms were really just a run of the mill cold which I then have to DH and the dizziness and nausea were the only actual covid symptoms......

Recent study says 75% of people that think they have a cold have covid.

NumberTheory · 02/01/2022 18:00

I'm almost in your situation OP.

Both boosted on the 2nd. DH came down with symptoms on 26th. Feverish and hacking, nasty flu-like symptoms. PCR result on 29th was positive. I've since had a very mild sore throat. PCR results tomorrow. I kind of know that I almost certainly have covid, but I'm definitely hoping it's just a very mild cold I've picked up somehow (even though I haven't been anywhere for a week!).

Have you got your result now OP?
