Posting for traffic as we have a household full of Covid and in dire need of distraction. What has been the best movie you and your 10+ children have enjoyed recently?

Totally agree with Princess Bride. It's amazing and endlessly quotable.

Also Back to the Future which my lads poo poohed for the first 5 mins and were then absolutely hooked on.

Currently we're watching Only Murders in the Building on Disney+ which is a series rather than a film but which we all love. Slightly more bad language than necessary, but I think that's part of the appeal for the 11 year old. It is excellent.

dottyaboutstripes · 01/01/2022 23:27

Please watch Paddington 2 if you haven't already! We all loved it!

TopCatsTopHat · 01/01/2022 23:28

Jungle Cruise! A cross between Jewel of the Nile and Indiana Jones, but better than both! Funny and a cracking pace, fab characters. Emily Blunt and Dwayne The Rock Johnson who are both perfect in their roles. Winner for all the family, something for everyone.

chouxfleur · 01/01/2022 23:41

My kids, age 12 & 14, both really enjoyed watching Jojo Rabbit and Knives Out

Drunkpanda · 01/01/2022 23:43

Here comes Mr Boom

AlexanderArnold · 01/01/2022 23:48

8, 12 and 15 yos loved Encanto. Powerful underlying theme for older goods, clever animation for younger kids. Worked on many different levels. Similarly, Where the Wild Things Are. They also enjoyed Spirited Away and the older ones watched Lord of the Flies. For the older ones, Trading Places was a hit last year.

Going to check out the other recs tomorrow as we are also housebound...

Forest gump. Had to pause a few times to explain to dc, but they're old enough to get al ot of the jokes. And now they understand why dh says 'run forest, run' to them.

Can you believe it was 94?

Obsidiansphere · 02/01/2022 00:05

A Boy called Christmas

Cafog · 02/01/2022 00:06

Not a movie but my 10yo found The Rescue on Disney+ amazing as did we -documentary and live footage of the rescue of the Little Boars football team and their coach from the flooded underground caves in Thailand .

This was on tonight so reminded me - Stan & Ollie. We saw it in the cinema when it first came out, that's a bit pre-Covid so my DC were at most 11, 9, 7. It's a wonderful film. Maybe not all kids would like it, it's subtle & sad but mine did. It's not on Netflix, not sure where else might have it.

Also Florence Foster Jenkins they loved (it's on Netflix). Parts aren't that suitable for kids but easy to gloss over.

We also enjoyed Red Notice a lot but I wasn't happy with Netflix 12 rating for it. Loads of swearing, including fuck, and some content not ok for 12s. I didn't mind as I was watching it with them & not excessively bothered by bad language (youngest is now 10) but wouldn't have wanted them watching without me which might have happened. I find Netflix ratings really peculiar at times.

Noisenough · 02/01/2022 00:24

Shazam
Little women
The new jumanjis
Luca
Remakes of Alladin and Mulan
The parent trap
Flubber
My girl
Mrs doubtfire
Might ducks

Taytotots · 02/01/2022 00:34

Sunburnt Christmas (I think was on prime) - features escaped convict dressed as santa who ends up saving a family's farm (hard to explain but heartwarming and funny).

HNY2022 · 02/01/2022 00:35

Another vote for Jumanji! Any but preferably the original or the first of the remake.

Hairspray.

Snoopsnoggysnog · 02/01/2022 00:59

Click and collect, a Christmas mini movie on iPlayer

Justlovedogs · 02/01/2022 01:20

No DC here, but we really enjoyed The Amazing Mr Blunden on Sky. Remake, but very enjoyable.

Runningupthecurtains · 02/01/2022 01:50

Can I add my voice to the chorus for Mitchell's v the Machines it is wonderful.

cherrypie66 · 02/01/2022 13:15

The holiday

MyDcAreMarvel · 02/01/2022 13:18

Ron’s gone wrong.

hangrylady · 02/01/2022 13:40

Cruella is brilliant.
Spies in Disguise
We also watched the Austin Powers films recently which are hilarious (possibly a bit more adult so depends on the kids). DD also loved The Twilight Saga

llantwitminor · 02/01/2022 14:06

If you can get it on Curzon Home Cinema or other streaming platforms, Petite Maman.

TheLadyofChristmasPast · 02/01/2022 14:08

We watched Shang Chi on Disney Plus yesterday and it’s fantastic! The first 10 mins is in mandarin. It’s beautiful with an exciting and interesting plot too.

They’re still hearing swearing. What does it matter if you’re there or not? (Not judging, I was watching sweary action films with my dad since I was about 8yo)
