What type of skin do you have? And what are your under eye concerns?

Combination skin, kiehls ultra face cream I have found works best for my skin and I always go back to it. Haven’t found an amazing face mask yet and have tried tropics, caudalie, liz Earle. Under eye (I’m 30, but laugh a lot) I have some small lines and faint bags. Have had under eye fillers before but they did f all Smile

I'm all for cheap n cheerful masks. The 99p ones from Superdrug are great. My faves are a sugary warming one, a tumeric one and one with lavender I've used tonight. Generally get 2-3 masks out of 1 packet. I have combination skin as well.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 31/12/2021 21:33

I use the Aldi day and might creams, the Aldi version of the Liz Earle hot cloth cleanser, I use Charlotte Tibury eye make up remover, and Aldis rose oil.

mycatistrans · 31/12/2021 21:41

I use dermalogica for all my products. I am 40 with combination skin.

tealandteal · 31/12/2021 22:13

I absolutely love face theory and I think I talk about it too much. They have lots of products dependent on your skin type and it is all packaged in recyclable packaging. My skin has been so much better since I started using them.

Justheretoaskaquestion91 · 01/01/2022 05:34

The Elemis collagen range - I use all of it snd the under eye cream is fantastic snd the cleansing balm can be used as a mask

I was going to say the same althought not the brand.

After 30 go for any good collagen product. As we get older our collagen reduces and with it elasticity, the earlier we use products full of collagen the better. I use Dr Lewinns' collagen gel morning and night - it's not too expensive and really good quality but I'm unsure whether is available in the UK.

Another tip is to gently exfoliate your face day and night. If you don't want to buy products, an exfoliating body mit will work beautifully if you gently rub it on your face. We don't exfoliate enough.

Another tip is never get sunburned. If the weather is sunny or windy always wear sunscrean. At 30 you won't notice the damage sunburning your face can do, at 50 you will notice.

lobsterkiller · 01/01/2022 07:44

Elemis, my skin is dry. I love the superfood range, but i love all of it tbh.

HelpMeTree · 01/01/2022 07:58

Oh you have to wear sunscreen every single day, not just when it’s sunny or windy (although yes, wind will make you burn more which isn’t always expected).

The jury is also out on topical collagen - what you need is sunscreen every day, a retinol product (or tretinoin, if you can get it) and a vitamin C product. Eye creams aren’t really going to make much difference unfortunately. And if your everyday skincare routine is good enough, you won’t need masks really, they’re just nice for relaxing with.

Changemaname1 · 01/01/2022 08:06

Came on to say basically what @HelpMeTree has !

UsernameInTheTown · 01/01/2022 08:06

Giving up booze and sugar, getting loads of sleep, fresh air and exercise and living off smoothies and water has given me the best results. Wish you could buy that in a pot.

Fcuk38 · 01/01/2022 08:10

Suncream everyday is your friend and tea tree oil for breakfast outs .

The sunscrean really depends on the UV light we receive. My understanding is the UK more often than no have very low UV light because of the weather.

My problem with retinol products is that most of them are a gimmick unless you go for extremely expensive brands. You can try and get a prescription of retin A from your GP but you need to know how to mix it with a mosturiser if you don't want your face burned.

Flowerpower23 · 01/01/2022 08:38

So many good tips here, Thankyou all! I’ll definitely invest in a good sunscreen and 100% agree with diet and lifestyle affecting your skin, I noticed a massive change in my skin when I moved to a plant based diet and cut down on alcohol and chocolate. Will be doing that again this year and trying to keep it up!

I was looking for a thread like this OP.
I haven't got a clue what I should be using.
When people are saying use sunscreen, is that with another moisturising product? Or just use sun screen on it's own?
I find sunscreen very sticky, greasy, is there any recommendations for one?

Changemaname1 · 01/01/2022 08:56

Spf specific for face , I use la Roche posay anthelios invisible fluid which is the favourite Iv tried for how well it absorbs

A lot of the spf with moisturisers are quite low on sun protection

Georgieporgie29 · 01/01/2022 09:02

Another one that uses dermalogica here. I’m in my 40’s and think my skin is quite good although I would love something that could get rid of my eye bags

Didiusfalco · 01/01/2022 09:06

Having tried everything and nothing, I think save your money, buy some Nivea, some sunscreen and some decent vitamins.

Justheretoaskaquestion91 · 01/01/2022 09:07

Most decent skin creams contain SPF so just find one that does. My Elemis collagen (I don’t work for them I swear!) is SPF30

Agree with a poster re the importance of water and no alcohol.

Guacamole001 · 01/01/2022 09:07

I use Elemis collagen range.

Whatever you do decide to use always put factor 50 suncream on over your mosturiser before any foundatiion. Use daily irrespective of the climate or whether you go outside or not.

Malariahilaria · 01/01/2022 09:37

Keils ultra is the best daily moisturiser I've found and I think I've tried most of them. Game changers for me were Paula's Choice salycilic acid serum daily and caudalie glycolic acid nightly. I also use The Ordinary aha bha blood red exfoliating mask weekly (sorry can't remember the exact name), it basically burns off a thin layer of my skin every week. As pp have said though, giving up sugar completely made my skin look amazing, lockdown broke me on that score so I need to get back on that one this year.

yellowtwo · 01/01/2022 09:39

OK so over the moisturiser, thanks Gucamole.
Great tips on the thread, I've really neglected any skin care from just not knowing what to use!

Guacamole001 · 01/01/2022 11:45

I dont use a face sunscreen just a general sunscreen one.

Onionbhajisandwich · 01/01/2022 11:53

Dr haushka quince day cream is my favourite and I use fresh petal soft lip cream on my lips. I’m 39 with combination skin.
