To hope my DS eyes will stay blue?

I have blue eyes & DH brown eyes. Both of our other DC have my DHs lovely brown eyes. This is our third baby and he's 4 months old now & still has blue eyes. Don't get me wrong it doesn't matter but I'd love for him to have my eyes.
Every-time I get excited my MIL reminds me that they will change to brown 🙄
What are the chances that they'll turn brown?

I have light greeny blue eyes. Ex husband has light hazel eyes. Our DS has dark brown eyes! Nothing like either of ours. Of course I got "jokes" about exh not being his real dad 🙄

My children have very different colouring - DS has brown hair and eyes like DH and is absolutely beautiful, but I was quite pleased that DD has my reddish-blonde hair and green eyes.

We take a natural pleasure in seeing ourselves in our children and I think there might be a particular response to seeing the recessive gene carried on. There's a fine line though between this response and placing a higher value on white / European / fair attributes and I would also be careful to show that I value my children equally, so it's not a bad thing to interrogate yourself on this kind of thing.

My partner and myself both have dark brown eyes and dark hair. My eldest has light blonde hair and blue eyes, my baby is also blue eyed and blonde haired but unsure if his will change

My DH has green eyes, I have hazel. Both kids have blue eyes although they are much darker than they were at birth (4 and 6).

They could well stay blue.

I think I'd keep it to myself, if I were you. You may not mean anything by it, but this type of thing can be hurtful to people who have brown eyes.

As you yourself say, it doesn't really matter. Either his eyes will turn brown or they'll stay blue. Try not to think about it so much and definitely stop talking about it. That's my advice as someone whose blue eyes turned brown.

His sister has kept her chocolate brown eyes.

My daughter had blue eyes until she was 3. I could tell they were going to change tho as they were a dark blue I’ve never seen in an adult. She now has beautiful hazel eyes

Darbs76 · 31/12/2021 22:11

I expected my DD’s eyes to turn brown like her brother and father (father is Indian, I am white). But they stayed blue. I researched and believe they can change up until 3

I have blue eyes and husband has brown - both my children kept their baby blue eyes till around 2 when they went green. Both have stunning eye colour, though secretly I wish one had kept blue eyes!

girljulian · 31/12/2021 22:18

Eye colour is so weird and unpredictable. People joke that me, my sister and both our parents are all “done in the same colour scheme” but we don’t really look anything like each other apart from that. Dad has very black Irish hair and properly green eyes; Mam has dark brown hair and grey-green eyes. Sibling and I both have dark hair and green eyes but different shades of green to each other and different to our parents too.
