To be really concerned about energy prices

I have locked my deal I until 2023 but paying so much more now. I work with vulnerable adults. Most can not afford heating now and are on pre payment meters. What the f is going to happen when the prices increase by 50% ?? It's horrible.

OP - I don't understand how you are paying "so much more" if you've locked in a deal for 2 years? So much more than when? Surely the whole benefit of having locked in a price is that the price per unit doesn't change until the deal ends, so the only reason you could be paying more than the day the fix started is if you use more?

Its been hitting home what this means for so many. Many can make savings and stop wasting energy - I can improve this myself but so many are already at absolute minimum usage of heating in particular and/or under heating their living spaces. It’s really worrying what this will mean for millions of people in terms of health/lifespan/early death/debt etc. Seemed dramatic when I wrote some of this words but that’s the reality for vulnerable whether due to age or conditions etc. Myra again I find myself thinking my old Ma ‘chose’ a great time to pass on just before Covid suddenly at home no illness good long life and no idea of Brexit realities hitting home /Covid/climate change increasing effects and now this in particular for her. And not just for us but worldwide effects on more vulnerable populations of all this and more. Good grief - need to get some mojo back for New Year’s Eve.

But apparently you can warm yourself with all that lovely sovereignty we've now got.

Yes it’s worrying but I turned the heating off last week and haven’t put it on again. The house was so warm from multiple bodies and oven on lots and it’s forecast to be mild this week. Obviously this is short term but still.

Searching for the kiln dried sovereignty dangled before our eyes - it’s all wet at the moment.

Hello. Popping in to let you know that we're doing a Q&A with fuel poverty charity National Energy Action about these energy price hikes on Wednesday 23rd Feb at 12 noon. The thread is now open for questions here.
