Just that. Thank you!

@CorrBlimeyGG

Knowledge for people that can't be arsed to read?
?

It is a reading app. And the point is that you get a taster. So if something appeals, you can move onto the whole book.

Jasmine11 · 27/12/2021 12:31

It's not just self help, it's all types of things

But the OP said she read about it on a self help thread, hence my comment.

Lex345 · 27/12/2021 12:32

Olio is a good app, its a save waste app, its free and community focused.

So now you know it isn't.
clarkkentsglasses · 27/12/2021 12:35

Yes I love blinkest too!

Burnshersmurfs · 27/12/2021 12:39

Blinkist is great- I only have the free version, but have been introduced to some interesting new reads through the allocated blink per day. I know it’s not exactly unheard of, but also a huge fan of Duolingo. If you manage to build up a streak that you don’t want to lose then it genuinely does the trick.

Still have no idea what the OP is after though 😂 Just apps that summarise books then? Or apps in general?

Jaxhog · 27/12/2021 13:06

Another vote for Evernote here, although I use it less now I can't go out much.

nancy75 · 27/12/2021 13:09

I think I need an app to help me understand this thread

TraceyLacey · 27/12/2021 13:14

This is such a weird thread, has saying the app's name summoned all its fans?

JoMumsnet · 27/12/2021 14:13

We've had a few reports asking us to check whether this is a stealth advert, so we just wanted to confirm that the OP's a long-term member of the site with no form for spamming. Hope that clears things up. Smile

It takes me ages to get through a book. I fall asleep after a page.

Thank you. I've had a heap of family drama today. Haven't meant to be awkward. I guess a good recipe app recommendation would be handy. Just interested in any other game changing technology.

Me too 😂 But I can listen for hours. And what a fantastic resource for people with dyslexia.

WeaninWoes · 27/12/2021 15:52

Sounds like a crap app

Peppapigforlife · 27/12/2021 16:00

Moodspace. İ think it's better than Headspace. İt gives you a CBT style therapy page to write out your problems and look for positive perspectives on what happened. Plus it's aesthetically please too. Only £3.50

@deadlanguage

I love Evernote - it’s a note taking app but I have it on my phone, iPad and laptop and it syncs across all of them so I always have what I’m looking for. I basically use it to keep track of my whole life!

My other recommended apps are What3Words which is more generally useful rather than life changing - it helps you identify your precise location, Dr Greger’s Daily Dozen which helps you track healthy habits, and Spotify.

I also used to have IFTTT which helps you automate various things on your phone which can be quite helpful.

Can you please tell me a bit more about Evernote?

I have googled it but I'm still not sure quite how it works.

PiffleWiffleWoozle · 27/12/2021 20:05

I totally understand what you mean OP.

Love Blinkist.

Forest is good for tracking your time and productivity.

I also use Nirvana for tracking projects and to dos (used to use OmniFocus but moved away from apple).

Omnilist also useful.

PiffleWiffleWoozle · 27/12/2021 20:07

Also YNAB for budgeting (though this is not cheap)

Happy Scale for weight loss tracking with targets and progress.

Littleducks · 27/12/2021 20:17

Love while parenting
Was recommended on here, sounds a bit wanky but it is actually really interesting short videos about psychology of raising happy children. Created by church I believe but no religious content from what I've seen

BeBraveAndBeKind · 27/12/2021 20:17

I love Castbox. It's a free podcast app. It doesn't interrupt with ads like the free version Spotify.

Fleurdecerisier · 27/12/2021 20:31

Another one that isn't exactly unheard of but the Google Arts and Culture app is very enjoyable to dip in and out of for learning about paintings, doing virtual tours of historical sites etc.

It's been mentioned but I've recently downloaded Goodreads because I heard that tracking what you read can help you read more (like you I find it takes me ages to get through a book lately)

CantStartaFireWithoutaSpark · 27/12/2021 20:36

Yes Blinkist is great. It sums up books that take forever to get to the point, very concisely.
I use Trello a lot. But placemarking for more tips.

doadeer · 27/12/2021 20:38

I like Blinkist.

Love the Calm app it's brilliant. Sleep Stories, soundscapes, meditations
