Pre loved Gucci

Why don’t more people do this?

Have just found some websites for pre loved designer bags etc, all fairly good condition. I’ve seen a couple for £200, realise this is a lot *But in pay per use would work out well as I’d keep a bag like that for years.
Aibu to have only just found these and does anyone else buy these?
Or Aibu to want one?

I buy pre-loved handbags quite often. I want to use them, not keep as an ' investment' so would rather pay a bit less and get value from them.

itwasntaparty · 26/12/2021 22:20

Asda do ore loved Gucci now

saturning · 26/12/2021 22:25

I buy about 60% of my Louis Vuitton, mulberry and Gucci pre-owned. I have got 2 gucci scarves pre-owned and get them dry cleaned before they come wearing. I have bought 4 louis Vuitton handbags pre-owned and older styles as I just can't justify buying new styles at current prices. I have bought a new Louis Vuitton silk/wool shawl new but hated paying £405 for it, pre-owned scarf cost me £220 but it was in a "core' colour. I have bought my mulberry new though. I think people who want choice and up to date styles or die hard brand fans buy new

Sothisischristmus · 26/12/2021 22:37

@itwasntaparty Eh?

Arthur2shedsJackson · 26/12/2021 22:47

Which are the best sites for genuine bargains?

MrzClaus · 26/12/2021 22:51

I personally don't buy pre loved luxury goods - especially handbags. If I'm buying a designer item, personally I like it to be brand new and have the experience of buying it too (the excitement, the boxes, the unwrapping!) then also the fact it is unworn and no damage / wear and tear. I like the memories behind the reasons I buy my items (e.g engagement, promotion, first home etc). The only one I'd ever consider used would be a vintage Birkin / Kelly, because of the rarity.

However I don't think it's unreasonable to want to buy one! It's a very common thing, companies like Sellier / The Real Real / Luxury Promise all deal in reselling designer items (bags / clothes / jewellery). I think it's all personal preference!

TurquoiseDragon · 26/12/2021 22:55

There's a charity shop in Leicester that specialises in pre-loved luxury fashion, seems pretty popular.

SocksAndTheCity · 26/12/2021 23:23

I buy most of my clothes and accessories (including bags) secondhand and many are either new or practically new - the things which are older/vintage have all been in excellent condition. I've only been stung once when something I bought on Vestiaire turned out to be fake (a Missoni dress, I think), and I was refunded immediately without ever even seeing it as it didn't pass their authenticity checks.

I like lovely fabrics and beautiful designs and I couldn't afford them new, plus I love a charity/vintage shop find as well as the dedicated preloved designer places (I like Rebelle too). My favourite so far is a Louis Vuitton silk cocktail dress that still had it's tags on but I have all kinds of things!

Then when you tire of whatever it is, you can sell it on again and get something else Smile

Lockheart · 26/12/2021 23:25

Pre-owned Gucci. Or second hand.

"Pre-loved" is twee saccharine bollocks.

Sothisischristmus · 26/12/2021 23:37

@Lockheart Ok

OP posts:
Crankley · 27/12/2021 00:01

Lockheart totally agree. Pre-loved makes me laugh - it's second hand Grin

CaptainCabinets · 27/12/2021 00:05

Is it only pre-loved if it was expensive? Grin

Secondhand for the plebbier stuff.

Knockoneofftheshelftowin · 27/12/2021 00:07

Turquoisedragon,
Is it near where Fenwick's was?

I can't think of the street name.

daimbarsatemydogsbone · 27/12/2021 00:14

What’s the difference between pre-loved and used?

SocksAndTheCity · 27/12/2021 00:17

@daimbarsatemydogsbone

What’s the difference between pre-loved and used?
About £150 Grin
FatOaf · 27/12/2021 00:35

So would you not buy a handbag if the previous owner didn't love it?

SocksAndTheCity · 27/12/2021 00:41

I can only speak for myself, but I couldn't give a ratfuck what the previous owner thought of the item on sale. Why would I?

I can grasp the difference between a trite, catch-all marketing term and an actual factual description (which contains the information I want to know, like size, colour, materials and so on), though.

EishetChayil · 27/12/2021 05:57

Second-hand, FFS!

Ninetiesweremyjam · 27/12/2021 09:23

@EishetChayil Calm down 🙄

KenAdams · 27/12/2021 09:35

@Knockoneofftheshelftowin I've just googled and it might be in Stoneygate but I'm not sure. Come back @TurquoiseDragon!

TurquoiseDragon · 27/12/2021 09:52

@Knockoneofftheshelftowin and @KenAdams I can't recall the name of the street or even the shop name. It's somewhere in the city centre, on one if the side streets south-facing the market. I live in one of the nearby towns, and haven't been in the city centre for quite a while. Going next week though, DD wants to trawl through the charity shops.

Rubyupbeat · 27/12/2021 09:53

EishetChayil

Second-hand, FFS!

Never a truer word!
I hate all this vintage, shabby chic, pre loved language shit too!
Its secondhand, it's not new, it's been handled by probably many.
As Harry Enfield would say 'I saw you coming!'

TurquoiseDragon · 27/12/2021 09:54

My auto correct hates me. Don't know where the word facing comes from, street is south of the market.

Lollyfalalalalalalalalaaahhhhh · 27/12/2021 09:57

What websites do you use?
