Just to remind you that alternative narratives are possible and the smallest acts of personal change are revolutionary. This is from the great feminist cartoonist Jacky Fleming. www.jackyfleming.co.uk/

@Mybalconyiscracking

My DH cooked everything, I was all set to prep the veg and he’d already done it. Quietly and without fuss!
MN won't believe that! MN honestly feel that if the women in relationships did nothing then everyone would starve to death (as per the cartoon).

However, in all the relationships I know, both part of the couple will take equal responsibility.

Something MN find hard to believe!

It’s feminist because the expectation was the woman should do all the cooking, and if she doesn’t then nobody else will get off their arses and do it.

I don't get this at all

Feminism for me is having a choice, not having to do things.

If you don't want to cook, don't invite people, or, if you value their company, take 'em to a restaurant or pay someone to cook in your home.

Don't just invite people for dinner, seat them at a dining table, pour wine and then ... not serve any food.

Why would anyone do that?

I'm very happy to subvert expectation.

Invite people for dinner, offer drinks when there is clearly no sign of any cooking going on and the dining table is not set for a meal.

I will have booked a table at a small restaurant just a few steps away from our house.

It's my choice and I do enjoy the slight deception. I also ensure my guests are not left to wonder for more than a few minutes.
