To ask if you've regifted anything already?

I have. Pink gin miniatures and a huge box of Ferrero Rocher. Can't stand either of them, so they've already gone to different neighbours who will enjoy them! Yes, they know they are regifts (we're all friends).

Have you or will you be regifting anything?

I've been given candles, which smell lovely, but will never be used. I fucking hate candles. I blame MN, it's been all "candles, 'posh chocs' and 'cosy socks'" for months on here. Don't know anyone to foist them onto, so hoping for a charity bag through the door next week.

GoodnightGrandma · 26/12/2021 07:39

I kept some candles in case the electric goes off. They’re in little pots so wouldn’t get knocked over.

Underthestairsbears · 26/12/2021 07:40

Not yet but have a small pile for the charity shop thanks to SIL.

Echoesandsilence · 26/12/2021 07:45

My DH gets alcohol from sub-contractors he works with so he has re-gifted 3 bottles of whiskey and 1 bottle of gin to other workers.

I got a massive box of ferrero rocher (42!) So i opened them with the christmas desserts yesterday and extended family at most of them.

MrsDThomas · 26/12/2021 07:45

Got a running belt from BIL. I run, but that doesn’t mean i need a running belt. I have my kit, been running for years, I know what i want. He bought a similar one 2 years ago. Oh and a scarf. Grey, i like bright colours so both can go to a charity store.

MrsDThomas · 26/12/2021 07:47

Oh and the kids got football annuals.

My eldest is nearly 20. Every fucking year.

Michellebops · 26/12/2021 07:55

I got aftershave from fil who has dementia, given it to my oh and told him not to say anything to upset his dad.

Faevern · 26/12/2021 07:56

Ah it is my birthday next week so this is where I prepare myself for the regifting of shit and unwanted gifts and stuff that Boots can't sell on 75% discount. I divide into stuff that the local care home will use, the school fair or the charity shop.

My DP advises that I should label it and re-gift it back to them on their birthday. One year I was re-gifted something that I had bought someone and I was tempted to give them it back Grin.

Ragwort · 26/12/2021 08:02

I manage a charity shop and am looking forward to receiving all the unwanted gifts Grin.

lobsterkiller · 26/12/2021 08:02

Not so much a regift, but I always get wonderful, luxurious gift sets from my brother. My brother and sister dont have the best relationship, so I always share the gift with her.

I was re-gifted something I had given someone last year!! I want to call them out on it but not sure how...

Would vouchers for a January birthday be acceptable? I need to get a gift for DD's friend but not sure what and obviously the shops will be full of sale things - was wondering about getting a voucher instead?

RickRude · 26/12/2021 08:09

I have! I work in a school and got 7 different boxes of chocolates and biscuits, which I regifted to the dc teachers. Also gave one to my neighbour. I don’t eat chocolate or biscuits often, especially not 7 boxes worth, so it was a no-brainer for me.

Totalwasteofpaper · 26/12/2021 08:10

I am about to go on mat leave and £ is tight so was going to regift a loccintane set from my mil.

However I googled it to check the price as didn't want to give my friend (who loves loccitane) anything madly expensive.
Normally we do but she is on mat leave too and would be annoyed if it was too extravagant.

On inspection the set isn't for sale online and must be at least 3+ years old....there is sediment in some of the products Confused

I will need to up my shit Christmas gift game next year.

HangingOver · 26/12/2021 08:14

Booze. I'm a recovering alcoholic and DP gave up booze in solidarity but we somehow have still acquired expensive gin and champagne!

Thisisworsethananticpated · 26/12/2021 08:15

We had a scary candle fire 🔥 Xmas eve
All candles are dead in this house

I added something very nice to mums stash and my son body told her 🙄

Caterinasballerinas · 26/12/2021 08:15

Some of the million selection boxes my DC received will be ‘regifted’ to me and DH

LouLou789 · 26/12/2021 08:16

My friend and I quite often swap things we’ve been given that we know the other one would like more. Not this year though,, I love all my little prezzies!

bluesky45 · 26/12/2021 08:33

My youngest got a game we already own, so I'll be saving that and regifting it for a birthday. I've only received one gift so far and it was something I asked for so will be keeping it, obviously. We are exchanging gifts with my family today but I think I'm only getting things I asked for there too so should just be one regift this year.

Faevern · 26/12/2021 08:33

@BeautifulTulips I don't know about your friend but for me vouchers are a blessing. I keep them until I want something, usually in spring or summer and then I send a message saying this is what you bought me for my birthday.

Last year it was Amazon vouchers and I had so much pleasure buying books throughout the year.

Karatema · 26/12/2021 08:37

@BeautifulTulips
Vouchers are always welcomed by my friends who have January birthdays as they are sick of getting naff gifts for them!

Karatema · 26/12/2021 08:41

My DH always buys me puzzle books which I don't have time to do! (I work f-t, have friends and a hobby, I love) so I will regift these, to the charity shop, once he's forgotten about them! Confused

Hotyogahotchoc · 26/12/2021 08:47

OP I also regifted some pink gin minis. I got them girly birthday a few months ago and passed them on to someone who will like them. I just don't drink gin.

I don't usually regift though as I like to but my friends and family things they will enjoy and if it's something I don't like then I wouldn't usually expect anyone else to like it.

Mybalconyiscracking · 26/12/2021 08:49

My DDs have bartered a few bits and bobs. Going rate seems to be one set of battery powered fairy lights to the Lush bath bomb!

Shieldingending · 26/12/2021 09:02

Thanks for the two positive messages about getting somebody with a January birthday a gift voucher ! I didn’t want it to look like a cop out but I would rather do that to buy something in the sales which they may have already got for Christmas!

ChocolateCakeYum · 26/12/2021 09:29

Yes we’re regifting a game DS got called Og on the Bog. It’s utter garbage and we all hate it.
