I needed a few minutes pause halfway through my Christmas dinner. This is unusual and I was surprised but I've been eating less generally lately due to being busy/cba and not snacking anything like I normally do. Don't worry, I soon recovered and finished my veg but did give away my Yorkshire puddings to the dc. I just didn't fancy them which again is odd. I then managed a further 2 stuffing balls while chatting to my mum and finishing my wine. We were chatting about how we don't know how people can have a starter, main course, pudding, cheese and crackers etc all at one sitting. We don't even have meat although we did when I was a child.

Part of today may have been the fact I was co stay my on the go as mums often are and spending ages in the kitchen seems to decrease my appetite.

Breakfast: homemade cinnamon bun and two cups of tea

Second (more reasonable hour) breakfast: a fried potato sandwich

Christmas dinner: honey roast parsnips and carrots, roast potatoes, marrow fat peas, broccoli, cranberry sauce, stuffing balls x4 (or was it 5Blush) and a glass of wine

Pudding (several hours later): homemade sticky gingerbread Bundt cake

Supper: cheese and crackers (5)

Baileys while watching Call the Midwife

About 5 chocolates, 2 chocolate biscuits, one after eight mint, 3 cheesy Doritos and a few glasses of water.

Oh and a mince pie.

What did you have? Traditional or not? Family traditions that others might find weird? Tell me your Christmas Day gastronomic delights.

My eating today has been super weird!

One chocolate truffle

Half a pain au chocolat and lots of coffee with milk

A few leftover sushi rolls

Drove parents an hour each way for a PCR test

Two meatballs with tomato sauce and tzatziki

Coffee with milk x2

Three blini with salmon caviar, butter, creme fraiche, hard boiled eggs, dill, chopped red onion, plus lots of prosecco.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 26/12/2021 01:22

Brunch - croissant with bacon
Snack - slice of pannetone
Dinner - far too much!
Baked Camembert starter
Soup
Turkey with cauliflower cheese, potatoes, parsnips, stuffing, pigs in blankets
Christmas pudding with cream

Lots of cups of tea, three glasses of wine.

Thursa · 26/12/2021 01:33

Midday…huge mug of tea and two Christmas biscuits.

2:30-ish, glass of Prosecco and a couple of chocolates while opening presents.

5…slice of turkey, stuffing ball, 2 roasties, 2 pigs in blankets, spoonful of sprouts, couple of parsnips, spoon of mash, gravy, spoon of bread sauce, spoon of cranberry jelly. Left half of it. By the time Christmas dinner is ready I’m usually sick of the sight of food.

2 glasses of wine.

Dessert is planned in an hour or so.

Snugglybuggly · 26/12/2021 01:42

Sherry

M and S best ever trifle, cup of tea

Beef stroganoff with parmesan roast potatoes and peas with parma ham for supper.

halcyondays · 26/12/2021 01:49

Forgot I had a few olives with Xmas lunch, left by dd2 who had them, pizza and salami for lunch. Doesn’t like the traditional food.

DH and I used to be able to eat starter, main, pudding all in one go but can’t manage it now, in our forties.

Sugaris · 26/12/2021 01:56

Nothing. Sad I came down with a gastrobug in the early hours of Christmas Day morning. I feel terrible, and can't hold anything down including clear fluids. I'm also 38 weeks pregnant.

TomPinch · 26/12/2021 02:50

Croissants for breakfast. Traditional Christmas dinner as mum would be outraged at anything else! Turkey, roast pork and I roasted a large rib of beef (that will be used for today's sandwiches. Christmas pudding with cream. Dairy milk.

I blame Father Christmas's delivery of two baby Annabels for me starting off today eating leftover ganache with a spoon!

saoirse31 · 26/12/2021 08:14

Tea for breakfast plus one shortbread biscuit. Turkey, ham, roast potatoes ,4? , Brussel sprouts, carrots, stuffing for dinner. Followed by Christmas pudding and cream. 5 r 6 glasses of wine thru day, crisps!

britneyisfree · 26/12/2021 08:34

Cheese on toast (toddlers leftovers!)
Few cups of tea

Goose, rib beef, ham, roast potatoes, Brussels with lardons, honey roast parsnips and carrots, pigs in blankets, stuffing two types, vegetable rice, plantain. I couldn't be bothered to make the swede mash or braised cabbage in the end.

Gin & tonics

No desert after all that!

augustusglupe · 26/12/2021 08:58

Fresh coffee when we got up at 7
More coffee later and a warm croissant

Lunch - Consommé,
Smoked trout with mustard sauce and bread and butter,
Turkey, goose, pigs in blankets, stuffing, nigellas bread sauce, roast potatoes, parsnips, sprouts, carrots, red cabbage, gravy.
Few glasses of red wine

Later - Bowl of trifle with extra cream
Chocolates - quite a few
Prosecco
Water

Getyourjinglebellsinarow · 26/12/2021 09:20

We had tea and croissants for breakfast, then despite constantly agreeing we were hungry and needed a snack before dinner we never got round to it.
Had a can of kopparberg while I cooked.
Had a brie dippy thing and pate for starters with lovely ciabatas.

Then gammon (boiled in cola then glazed in maple syrup and mustard and cooked in oven. Fucking divine.) Roasties, root veg mash, parsnips, Brussels, carrots, cauliflower cheese, yorkshires and gravy.
With a glass of bucks fizz, never ha did before, just saw it in the shop and though "people drink that at Christmas " so bought it.

Then profiterole trifle for pud. And another kopparberg.

And thats it! The least I've ever water on Christmas day tbh!

Getyourjinglebellsinarow · 26/12/2021 09:20

Oh and pigs in blankets on dinner!
