Has got the best singing voice you've heard. For me it's James Arthur. I know there are more powerful voices out there but I just think he has such a lovely unique tone to his voice. Who would you choose?

OP posts:

Paul Heaton

Woman - Karen Carpenter
Man - Jack Savoretti

Lemar Obika from Fame Academy. He doesn't sing my preferred genre of music so he's absolutely not my normal style but his voice has a very special quality to it that makes him a pleasure to hear.

Conor Mason - lead singer of Nothing But Thieves.
I am obsessed by his voice and think it such a shame that he is not well known and more widely appreciated.
He is classically trained and such an emotional singer. He was influenced by Jeff Buckley, so if you like Jeff Buckley I am sure you will rate Conor.
I get all over goose pimples every time I listen to him.
If you have a few minutes please give any one of these a listen and give your ears a treat!

You might need tissues for this one!

Jimmy Somerville. Perfection.
I also like Ali Campbell from UB40. Showing my age I know.

LoveaStatementNap · 27/12/2021 02:05

I hadn't heard of Kate Rusby before this chat but I'm listening to her now and her voice is beyond beautiful.

Winniewonka · 27/12/2021 12:16

Will Young - because he won a talent show, he's often written off but he has a superb voice. 4 octave range and can sing anything from pop, jazz, musical theatre. He's just done an album of covers by female artists he admires e.g. Lykke Li, Bats for Lashes, Everything But the Girl.

Karen Carpenter

Plus from the Sixties - Matt Monro

Lucinda7 · 27/12/2021 12:43

Lewis Capaldi. Alex Band.

MamaEs · 27/12/2021 12:55

Lea Michele for me

MellowBird85 · 27/12/2021 13:29

YY to Marvin Gaye, Donny Hathaway, Brian Harvey and Ali Campbell. Also:

Terence Trent D’Arby
Stevie Wonder
Otis Redding
Mick Hucknall (can’t believe no-one’s mentioned him)
Miguel

However there will never be a better male singer than MJ.

Female:

Celine / Whitney / Mariah - Elite
Amy Winehouse definitely
Dina Carroll
Annie Lennox
Aretha Franklin

HunterGatherer · 27/12/2021 13:39

George Michael
Florence Welch.

@MysticCT

I really like the voice of the lead singer of Volbeat Michael Poulsen. He's got a really distinctive sound.
Love these. Lola Montez is awesome
Herecomesthesun70 · 27/12/2021 15:00

@JeffThePilot

David Draiman does have a great voice.

I’d choose Steve Balsamo though.

James Arthur, no I don’t really get that. But better than the PP who said Sam Smith, he just sounds like a sad foghorn.

Steve is a friend of mine. His voice is spectacular
