Is this OK for 45 minutes? Parking

Itsaparkingone · 23/12/2021 14:47

See diagram - is it OK for car two to park half on the drive, across the pavement and sticking into the road, for 45 minutes/ an hour? The dropped kerb was put in place to enable access to the drive, so not sure what the rules are about keeping it free.

No. As someone constantly having to push a pram into the road to avoid parked cars and wheelie bins left out for days, I can tell you people parking like idiots is a massive pain in the ....

Down my little side road in Herts they do this all the time and no one bats an eyelid.

The London borough I grew up in, you’d have been towed or vandalised in half the time you’ve proposed.

Itsaparkingone · 23/12/2021 16:57

Thanks everyone! This happened in my street. It's not a busy road by any means, but there are a lot of people walking their dogs. There was no space for anyone with wheels of any description to get off the pavement between the wheelie bin and car 2. It got my attention as I had literally just passed someone with a guide dog nearby, who I imagine would have found it quite tricky to negotiate this situation. If I had had the pushchair with me it would have been tricky; it would have been impossible in a wheelchair or mobility scooter, and really bloody annoying because there are hardly any dropped kerbs on our road so it would've required quite a detour.

Nope don't do it, whoever does it are scum and only care about their selves and actually ought to get points on their license.

NeedAHoliday2021 · 23/12/2021 17:17

No but Christmas week parking is mad with family visits so I’d not be fussed.

JuergenSchwarzwald · 23/12/2021 17:18

A woman’s just been prosecuted and fined over £1k for this. Unluckily for her it was a Tesla with a security camera. I’d string her up personally, fucking vandal

Funny priorities. The Tesla driver's actions could cause serious injury or death to a poor pedestrian. I don't condone vandalism but I bet the Tesla driver didn't get fined £1K.

Cars should be crushed (not with people inside, obvs).

People on my street park like this all the time. We're at the end of a cul-de-sac though, and all the curbs are the same level as the street so it's a bit different as people just walk/wheel in the road, but it still annoys me. Especially the people that have one of those massive garden storage boxes one their drive, so their car doesn't fit, and instead pokes into the road.

I think you might be confused. I posted a link to the story above.

The tesla was parked in a space in a public car park not causing any issues to any pedestrians or anyone else for that matter.

The point was keying cars is prosecuted if footage is available.

Oldraver · 23/12/2021 18:18

My next door neighbour used to do this

I may of been cross at him. He doesn't park like it now

She did it in a car park where the Tesla was legally parked. Of course the driver wasn’t fined. There’s never an excuse for vandalism.

They have, there are 10 posts before yours which mention wheelchairs/mobility scooters.

No kidding.

PrincessNutella · 23/12/2021 21:48

What the honest fuck.

Chloemol · 23/12/2021 22:21

No

People with pushchairs, disabilities, kids need to use the footpath

Offmyfence · 23/12/2021 22:24

Of course it's not, what bloody relevance is the time! If he pavement is needed after 30 seconds, 45 minutes is a bloody long time!
