To want some waterproof boots that are actually waterproof?

Is the answer just to wear welly boots? I've bought plain, pull on boots that claim to be waterproof TWICE but I come back from walks with my feet sodden. All I want to do is walk across grass with my dog and not have to change my socks when I get home. (I also can;t be arsed with laces, hence the pull-on requirement.)

I'd also like said boots to be fleece-lined or in some other way warmer than wellington boots, but as any lining seems to wear away around the heel area within a week this may be too much to ask.

Does anyone have any hard-wearing, reasonably priced recommendations?

I hate wellies and have gone for zip up ecco ankle boots. They are ugly and expensive (£100) but are very warm and goretex lined and cope well with wet grass and mud.

Mouseylu · 23/12/2021 10:30

Emu boots. Warm and waterproof.

Monkeytapper · 23/12/2021 10:31

I’ve tried loads of wellies/boots as I have dogs that need taking out it all weathers, best ones are Timberlands, nice dry feet and comfy

I've had two pairs of Sorrells now and not worn my wellies for a 5 years. They have been great for muddy and wet walks, and also snow.

Muck boots
The “Arctic” style if you want them to be really warm,,but I have the “chore” stile and wear them with wool rich socks in the winter.

FrankGrillosWrist · 23/12/2021 10:36

Just wax your boots regular to make them waterproof. I used to buy fleece lined Fly boots, but I’m not sure if they still sell them.

I have merrel vegan walking boots and they seem to be doing well! They look like fabric so don't look waterproof but they are. V comfy. I wear walking socks with them as I like warm feet but they are so comfortable they are not necessary.

You can get laces with a slider to replace normal laces.

Dh bought me a pair of waterproof socks which totally solved this problem for me. I wear a thin liner sock, then the waterproof socks, which feel a bit odd but do keep my feet really dry.

Ladehied wellies on Amazon. Eva so lightweight and I rate the liner as it stays in place. I’ve been buying these wellies for the kids for years and they’re really long lasting. Finally got myself a pair and they’re so cosy. 20 quid ish all colours of the rainbow.

BoudecaBains · 23/12/2021 12:10

Hunters. Had mine for yonks.

Riff2345 · 23/12/2021 12:11

Sorrell whitney are amazing. Dry and warm, have kitted out DC also.

WithABiffBangPow · 23/12/2021 12:12

I also have Muck boots and my feet are lovely and dry, I'm going to buy another pair when these implode

Wigglegiggle0520 · 23/12/2021 12:15

Decathlon snow boots £20-30 quid ish not expensive ones. Super warm and waterproof but not remotely stylish!

randomsabreuse · 23/12/2021 12:15

Hoggs or Grubs neoprene wellies. Warm, but not easy on/off. I haven't killed the lining yet and I'm bad for that (bone spurs on both heels).

Bavarois · 23/12/2021 12:16

I just get welly boots a size too big and wear them with fleecy welly socks. If it's just for walking the dog I don't get anything too nice/expensive as they're constantly muddy! (spaniel owner)

FreedomFaith · 23/12/2021 12:18

I own horses and the only thing I bother buying now are Dunlop wellies and thick socks. They all bloody well leak eventually anyway, or you might get a dodgy pair that fall to pieces in days. And yet they all cost £100+! It's mental. The Dunlop ones cost £15 on amazon, if not less if you're lucky.

Username916 · 23/12/2021 12:20

I bought the fleecy doc martins for this reason. Slip on, cosy toes, totally waterproof and perfect for long grass and finding the ball etc.

FlamingGoat · 23/12/2021 12:20

I second Dubarrys . Love mine.

TonytheDog · 23/12/2021 12:21

Blundstone. They last forever and are bombproof. I live in mine they can cope with mud, sand , sea, puddles, snow, shopping, work. I wear mine pretty much everyday and they're 4 years old and still going strong. Although they're expensive the price per wear makes them worth it.

Justcashnosweets · 23/12/2021 12:27

I have Grubs boots. Not the most attractive but really comfy, waterproof and warm even in sub zero temperatures.

ichundich · 23/12/2021 12:33

I have these Berghaus walking boots, and they are totally waterproof (have not tested them in streams, but definitely don't get wet in high grass, puddles, heavy rain, etc.). www.outdoorkit.co.uk/product.php?product_id=20399&utm_source=froogle&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=froogle&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIrdHp9Pb59AIVVJnVCh0YGw5DEAQYAiABEgLvrvD_BwE
