BA missing luggage - All Santa presents gone ..absolutely gutted!

Just that, took a flight on Saturday 18th from Heathrow to Dublin, checked in 4 bags, with clothes, toiletries etc but mostly all the Santa presents only to be told by the pilot on landing that no bags had been loaded on the flight and to go online to BA.com and chase them up. No way to contact BA directly as won’t answer the phone, no email address and no sign of the luggage. 3 days to Christmas and not a single present to put in the kids stockings, am absolutely gutted. Logged the baggage as advises by the pilot but to no avail. Does anyone know of any way to get in touch with BA and actually try to track down missing baggage?🙏

To the poster who is horrified at my Rubix cube and hot water bottles

If you mean me, I wasn't horrified. Just saying it was very easy to buy some new gifts, similar to those you might have got (not laptops obviously!), if you were basically anywhere in Ireland.

Now that I see you are only 45 minutes from Dublin, I feel that's even more the case. There are so many options available to you and you can easily avoid crowds. You presented the situation as though your only option was a village chemists.

Anyway you seem to have got sorted, so that's good, and hopefully the luggage may still arrive. (I do think you were mad to put the laptops in the luggage though. I would have had them delivered to Ireland.).

Phone them 03444930785 , my missed a flight from Paris on Saturday due to insufficient staff, ended up on 2 other flights to a different airport , luggage was delivered to our house yesterday x

Squeezita · 22/12/2021 19:19

But @EarringsandLipstick that’s so much money spent in gifts.

It’s unlikely OP will be able to get a refund on the presents stuck in transit.

I think IOU notes for the kids is a better option.

SoupDragon · 22/12/2021 20:59

I would have had them delivered to Ireland

As the OP said: but with the whole Covid situation we just didn’t know if we would even be able to travel until we got our pcr’s done 48 hours in advance so didn’t want to risk sending them in advance and us then staying in London

Update...and it’s good news!!!🥳 i’ve Only got all 4 bags back!! Can’t even begin to describe the relief. For anyone else in same position I would warn anyone going to the airport that there isn’t a customer service desk you can rock up to ang get information, there is a phone line in arrivals which is supposed to connect you to the baggage handling service,. I tried this on Sunday but the didn’t answer (and I wasn’t alone, plenty of other frustrated passengers with similar issue were there too) anyway went back to the airport today and the same phone was out of order this time..but a really nice person (who I will be eternally grateful to) took pity on me when I explained the urgency and went out of his way to find someone from the bowels of the airport who actually could help, and lo and behold my cases were there piled up in arrivals with hundreds of others, took a while to find them as they weren’t together but found them all in the end. To be fair to them at the Dublin end they were trying to sort them out and match them up to owners but I think there were just so many on top of the regular arrivals that they were swamped.
To those who wondered why I couldn’t just head off into Dublin to do a bit of shopping, I knew in advance of coming that once I got here I wouldn’t be able to stray far from the locality (for reasons I won’t go into) which is why I made sure to have everything bought in advance, all I would have to do is wrap them. There are some nice gift shops and chemists I might add but nothing geared towards kids stuff locally.
All that remains is for me to get everything wrapped up and look forward to the delivery of my two new hot water bottles which I plan to spend Stephens day in bed with while I teach myself how to solve a Rubix cube!!😝
I just want to say a massive thank to you all for the kind words and offers of help not to mention the crash course in aviation matters, so many lessons learnt no more so than the kindness of strangers.
Almost forgot, a massive shout to St Anthony himself, I owe him a fortune 🙏
I really hope all the other people in the same situation get their luggage back soon, thinking of you all 🎄

Brilliant news! I've loved reading this thread. From the good humour of the op to all the offerings of help to the entertaining chat and leaned lots about baggage handling and pilot male/female ratios.
