Yes i'd go.

or

No i would decline.

I'm not a government bot i'm just interested and thought i'd ask :) For info., we've been invited, we're going, but i'm a bit wibbley about it and through all this i've never been wibbley! Wondered how many others would/wouldn't.

I wouldn’t because I need to travel over Christmas and don’t want to risk a positive PCR test.

Otherwise I would.

SparklingLime · 17/12/2021 09:24

No.

chiefcha · 17/12/2021 09:24

No

MaryHingey · 17/12/2021 09:24

no

ThePlantsitter · 17/12/2021 09:25

It would depend what my Christmas plans were. I want to see elderly relatives, so no. If it were a quiet just us Xmas I would.

Somanysocks · 17/12/2021 09:26

No

BasicDad · 17/12/2021 09:26

Nope...unless you're happy to risk isolation for and over Christmas.

Ilovethewild · 17/12/2021 09:26

No, I’ve already said no to other social events this week, don’t wanna be ill over christmas…

rainbowtinsel · 17/12/2021 09:26

Have the same dilemma, how many of you? For us it's jut us and another couple and their 2 DC (who are in pre-school with my DC)

VictoryLap · 17/12/2021 09:27

Depends how many households and how big the house is?

Anecdotally everyone I know who has been to a Christmas party recently has contracted covid.

Claudethecat · 17/12/2021 09:27

No, I would not want a visit from Omicron for Christmas!

Sandsnake · 17/12/2021 09:28

Personally, no as we’re travelling to my family for Christmas and we would all be super gutted if I got Covid and couldn’t go. As such I’m hugely limiting what I do in the build up to Christmas, although still obviously doing things I need to like work etc. After Christmas I will probably be a lot more relaxed.

ginslinger · 17/12/2021 09:29

no

EdinaMonsoon · 17/12/2021 09:31

No. It’s not just about having to isolate, it’s about not knowing how your body will respond to the virus if you do get it. Who wants to spend Christmas being ill?

Laiste · 17/12/2021 09:32

It's immediate neighbours, village, 10 max if everyone came i guess? It might be just us at this rate! Hmm

It's a lovely older guy and his wife and daughter (40s). Not a big house. They've tried to have this twice before and lockdown has knocked it on the head.

Nope.

MindyStClaire · 17/12/2021 09:34

No, too close to Christmas.

caketiger · 17/12/2021 09:36

Nope

MousesBack · 17/12/2021 09:37

It depends how much you'd enjoy it when you get there, and what else you'd jeopardise by getting sick. If you're planning a big family Xmas get together of your own, then probably seeing those people is more important to you than drinking Prosecco with the neighbours. If you really like your neighbours and this was going to be one of your main bits of Xmas sociability then I would probably go.

Keep in mind that the most likely outcome of any bash is that you won't get sick from attending.

I turned down drinks with ours because for the two couples I do like, there are several more I don't like / don't know so it didn't seem worth the risk, but I am quite risk averse. It was low down my list of Christmas priorities.

[For what it's worth if I were a neighbour hosting drinks tonight, I would cancel now anyway]

crossstitchingnana · 17/12/2021 09:37

Yes I would, and in fact I am going to a get together tonight. My friend has asked us to do LFTs and we're all triple-jabbed. Also, my Christmas is just my household - so not much to lose. Also going to a three course meal and disco tomorrow night as I am not wasting £70 on two tickets and I haven't had a dance for two years.

PurplePikachu · 17/12/2021 09:38

Nope

Gargellen · 17/12/2021 09:39

No. Nothing would get me out now.

Laiste · 17/12/2021 09:45

I was quietly hoping he'd cancel to be honest. I feel if he hasn't yet he isn't going to ...

heldinadream · 17/12/2021 09:49

No. As Whitty said - prioritise. Can't imagine this is your most important social event in the next two-three weeks. Don't sabotage more significant gatherings for this one. Apologise and explain - if they don't get it well, they don't get it!

Hemingwayscatz · 17/12/2021 09:52

I think at this stage most people aren’t frightened of actually catching covid but are more frightened of the inconvenience of self isolating for 10 days. We had it a couple of weeks ago and the self isolation was the worst part, I’d hate to do it over Christmas. We weren’t actually sick, no more than a usual cold (actually have a cold now and feel worse).
