Charity rep at work, am tasked with helping to select two charities that "support U.K women's issues." I've had a few idea's already, (which I'm linking to below), but would be really grateful if people could link to others.

Family Holiday Association. Lots of help for those leaving domestic abuse, grandparent care etc.

HotSauceCommittee · 13/12/2021 22:06

one25.org.uk
They help women working on the streets in Bristol.

Oriunda · 13/12/2021 22:12

More London/south east based, but Hestia do some good work in the domestic abuse area, running womens’ refuges and also work on modern slavery/trafficking.

The women's holiday centre is bliss! And very poor. Definitely would be grateful for any donations.

slug · 13/12/2021 22:20

Abortion Support Network. They help women from Northern Ireland, Ireland and increasingly places like Poland travel to England for abortions

Wigeon · 13/12/2021 22:23

Does the charity have to be UK wide? There are lots of local women’s centres, which often do amazing things on small budgets, and would massively welcome any donations.

If you’re in or near Hertfordshire I can recommend one. Smile

Agree with @slug, ASN are an incredible charity and their work is literally lifesaving.

RuggerHug · 13/12/2021 22:55

Alliance For Choice. NI abortion rights and access.

peachgreen · 13/12/2021 22:56

Yes @ruggerhug, another great one!

RuggerHug · 13/12/2021 22:59

Slug and peachgreen have it tooGrin basically any that help abortion access for NI. Unfortunately it seems to get forgotten about/completely unknown until a BBC drama highlights it in the UK.

MunsteadWood · 13/12/2021 23:02

I really recommend Rights of Women. Fantastic legal charity run by women for women tackling some really tricky issues.

AuntieStella · 14/12/2021 06:26

Wateraid

www.wateraid.org/uk/

It's British-based, this GP of course it's activities are overseas.

And the lack of basic water and sanitation is an issue which disproportionately affects women and girs, as they are the ones who are pulled from education to go and fetch it. And that has lifelong consequences

marmiteloversunite · 14/12/2021 06:31

Flat Friends UK. Nationwide Support group for women with breast cancer who choose not to have reconstruction.
