To wonder why the nurse that was found dead…

Tillsforthrills · 13/12/2021 07:59

Young nurse Petra Srnciva vanished two weeks ago on her way home from work in South London who worked at the Evelina hospital was found dead in a park yesterday.

It really makes me wonder why there has been nothing like the kind of concern over other young women in this past year that caused national outcry.

I find it really strange there’s been no real concern over her at all. So shocking and sad.

OP posts:

@Thatsplentyjack- I heard that report Sad.

Georgeskitchen · 13/12/2021 09:03

Some cases seem.to warrant more media coverage than others. No idea why that is
I have recently heard of 2 toddler murders by reading regional news that didn't gain national recognition!!

Etinoxaurus · 13/12/2021 09:03

@Nevertime

She didn't vanish into thin air. She was obviously either murdered where/close to where her body was found, or she was abducted and dumped. I think "she vanished into thin air" minimises what happened. I can't really explain why, and I know you didn't mean it like that though.

She wasn't obviously murdered at all. Police don't think it was murder.

Why do you think that? Please be careful everyone about speculation and if it’s not link to source.
Theunamedcat · 13/12/2021 09:03

Apparently her death is not suspicious and the man has been released on bail which would suggest suspicion of something surely?

Yes, I can imagine some things it could be, but possibly better not to speculate on here.
Nevertime · 13/12/2021 09:07

Why do it think it's not suspicious? Because the police said so.

So time to give the family some privacy now, not whip up media coverage.

Imissmoominmama · 13/12/2021 09:07

I was aware of her being missing, and I’m in the NW, but as you say, it’s been nowhere near the coverage that other missing women have had.

I wonder whether she’d left a note, or spoken to someone and that is why there wasn’t the same coverage. It’s desperately sad.

fakereview · 13/12/2021 09:08

The Times is also reporting that the police do not think it was suspicious.

MaryAndGerryLivingInDerry · 13/12/2021 09:10

I’ve been wondering about this and think the news, at least regional evening news should have a section announcing any newly missing people and perhaps on online news a daily update of missing people.

Yes I corrected that in my next post. The way the OP was worded made me think she had been murdered. I haven't seen the news report.
Blueblossombush · 13/12/2021 09:13

It’s weird how some cases gather the news and others barely make a ripple
In my home town a woman vanished-massive media coverage (rightly so)
Around the same time my ex walked out of the door to go to work-and hasn’t been seen since
Nothing

I knew a young lad who murdered his mums boyfriend and it barely made the front page of the local news
My daughter saw him, minutes later, running down the street, covered in the blokes blood
I’d be amazed if anyone who lives out of the area has heard of the case
It didn’t make the news-and there is one article about it on the internet

Others keep the news going for weeks

SandysMam · 13/12/2021 09:15

There must be evidence to suggest she committed suicide. Very sad either way, rest in peace Flowers

The majority of missing adults don't want to be found and "we" don't know what they're escaping from...

Probably police usually know which is which, but the campaigns you see on FB etc will often tell a very one sided story.

Tabbacus · 13/12/2021 09:19

Probably the same reason there isn't much done about young men being stabbed in the street; the government is loathe to spend money on initiatives and police. Although obviously it varies case to case.

drpet49 · 13/12/2021 09:20

* The news report that I've read says that circumstances are not suspicious, meaning that the police don't think that it was murder.*

^This is the reason why

MaryAndGerryLivingInDerry · 13/12/2021 09:21

The majority of missing adults don't want to be found and "we" don't know what they're escaping from.

That might be the answer to the OPs question then.

fournonblondes · 13/12/2021 09:22

Someone was already in custody when they found the body. Apparently someone she knew. We will know more details but this needs to be handled carefully.

Ponoka7 · 13/12/2021 09:27

@Thatsplentyjack, it was widely reported across the news. First her death and then the brother getting arrested. This was for about two weeks.

@Theunamedcat
"Apparently her death is not suspicious and the man has been released on bail which would suggest suspicion of something surely?"

They often keep people on bail so they can restrict their movements and can easily rearrest them. It can be a standard procedure in a potential murder case. But it doesn't mean that the man had anything to do with her death. The reporting could have just crossed the findings.

Zarene · 13/12/2021 09:29

I find it interesting that it's not being reported that she was found right opposite the flat in which Boris and Carrie had their famous wine-throwing row before the election.

Obviously it's not connected, I just would have thought that's the sort of detail the papers would like.

kirinm · 13/12/2021 09:30

I live about 10 mins away from where she was found and only heard about it in the last few days.

The police are now saying her death is unexplained but they are not treating is as suspicious. If that is the case, how has it taken TWO weeks for her body to be found. Why weren't the Met searching parks and green spaces knowing that she had got off the bus in camberwell and that the park is very close to where she lives.

The Met are a national disgrace.

I agree with this, its like Leah Croucher though, she seemingly vanished into thin air and because the police seem to think she probably went of her own free will they left it too long to be able to see cctv (which is deleted after x days) or push for info. Years on and still no sign, no trace and nothing really being done. Even if they assume for whatever reason its not suspicious, at what point do they start looking?
kirinm · 13/12/2021 09:43

@Tabbacus they were worried enough to do broadcast an appeal and for Harriet Harman (local MP) to do the same. But if she committed suicide which, you have to assume given the "not suspicious" point, then her body has been there since 28 November 2021. By 3rd December they were concerned because she'd not been seen since 28/11. How hard is it to look at green spaces around her area?

Instead, they didn't do their job properly yet again and some poor kids have found her.

Nevertime · 13/12/2021 09:44

If Leah went of her own free will, doesn't she have the right to remain missing if that's what she wants?

StellaGibson118 · 13/12/2021 09:54

@anon12345678901

I heard about it prior to her being found dead, it's such a sad outcome but tbh, one I expected. I'm more surprised when a woman turns up safe and well after going missing, which is an unbelievably depressing way to feel.
Yep
