I just want to stay at home sometimes

Dd, 3.5 said this yesterday.
We go out a fair amount, but not constantly, she spoke today about she just wanted to stay at home sometimes.
It’s made me question whether all these nice things we do-going to see Santa, the lights, playgrounds, cafes etc are really worth doing, are kids just happier staying in?

We’ve all stayed at home a fair bit over the past 2 years. Were your kids happier when you were at home more? If so, sounds like you should probably do more of that.
Mine really weren’t. So we’re glad to be out and about again.

It's really personality dependent and I think it depends on how busy their weeks are.

As an adult I work a busy, active outdoors job and at the weekends I love nothing more than chilling at home doing very little.

But when I worked indoors, I enjoyed going out and about on my days off.

I think it depends on their personality. I have DD13 who needs time at home to chill. DS12 needs to get out.

I think it also depends on how much time they spend in childcare. Some children are in full time nursery & I can imagine they would crave time at home relaxing.
