Would this be a welcome gift for my daughter’s school?

My daughter has a lot of teachers (she is in a specialist setting and there is 5 teachers and assistants in the class altogether!)

It’s going to be extremely expensive to buy for them all individually - so I’m putting a together a little hamper.

So far I’ve put in my basket (online); nice coffee, nice hot chocolate, some luxury apple and cranberry sauce condiments, some cheese and garlic twists and nut assortments type snacks, a panettone, a selection of different biscuits (Italian, belgian, shortbread), some fudge/honeycombe/brittle/nougat.

Does this sound okay or am I going to be a complete weirdo sending something like this is as a Christmas gift?!

I have never really had to buy for teachers before so I just tried to think of something that I would like to receive around Christmas time…

Is there anything that I should add or remove?

Sounds a bit OTT just get a card

HolidayTime2021 · 10/12/2021 20:44

No nuts

Thehogfatherstolemycurry · 10/12/2021 20:44

Sounds lovely. I'd maybe give the nuts a miss in case of allergies.

starrynight19 · 10/12/2021 20:44

That sounds absolutely lovely any good things get demolished at our place and are much appreciated Smile

starrynight19 · 10/12/2021 20:45

Meant to say food

Sally872 · 10/12/2021 20:45

Sounds lovely. I normally give wine or chocolates but yours sounds nicer. I think something consumable like you have selected rather than a best teacher mug/keyring/pen is good idea.

CheesyFootballsAreEvil · 10/12/2021 20:45

It's far too much. What are they going to do with a jar of cranberry sauce. Donate that to the food bank and buy them some biscuits to share if you must.

toomuchfaster · 10/12/2021 20:46

I agree, sounds insane OTT. A box of celebrations or equivalent and a card from DD would be plenty.

AutumnLeaves21 · 10/12/2021 20:46

Wouldn’t bother with chutneys or condiments tbh, I’d go for things they can all share in school. Everything else sounds perfect. Maybe some fancy bakery mince pies to make it Christmassy

CheesyFootballsAreEvil · 10/12/2021 20:47

I must be living on a different planet.

Kitkat151 · 10/12/2021 20:47

It will be eaten by all the staff in the school not just the ones you buy for....if you happy for that then it sounds fine

Welcometothejingles · 10/12/2021 20:47

I did this when my dc where in a specialist setting. Wrapped up a box in Christmas paper, put in tea, coffee, fruit teas, hot choc & toppings, biscuits, mince pies, crackers and a box of chocs. I just avoided nut products but it sounds fab OK and the staff really appreciated it. They kept it in their little kitchenette at the back of the classroom.

justamumseekingadvice · 10/12/2021 20:48

It seem OTT but if they share it between them it’s around 4 bits each which isn’t too much? They have honestly been amazing with my daughter and she’s come on leaps and bounds since she has been with them which is why I want to do something nice for them.

Will definitely take the nuts out and maybe swap the sauces for something else too!

Seriously, 4 biscuits is enough.

User42729209 · 10/12/2021 20:50

Will it be easy to share out or will that be a pain for them?

I would just get everyone a nice box of chocolates and a card.

justamumseekingadvice · 10/12/2021 20:52

I was thinking they could just pick what they each wanted out of the box or keep it in the classroom to eat in their breaks etc?

OP posts:
CheesyFootballsAreEvil · 10/12/2021 20:53

They haven't got long left to eat it in their breaks and they don't want to fight over who gets a panettone

daisypond · 10/12/2021 20:54

It’s too much, I think. How are they going to share it out? Who gets the coffee? Who gets the condiments? Etc.

hoxt · 10/12/2021 20:58

Buy a nice box of biscuits for them to share. And write a card saying how much difference they have made for your daughter. All good.

AChickenCalledDaal · 10/12/2021 20:58

A nice box of biscuits each would be significantly cheaper and easier for them to share out on the frazzled part day of term. No negotiation required.

And if they have been honestly amazing, write them a card that says so. Pretty sure that will be the thing they appreciate most.

They will do exactly that honestly don’t worry it’s a lovely idea.
CristinaYangismySpiritAnimal · 10/12/2021 20:59

Oh FFS, it’s a lovely gift. Ignore all the negative nancies. I work in a school and this would be appreciated, as are all gifts.

ittakes2 · 10/12/2021 21:01

Sorry I don't get how you think the 5 of them are going to share a hamper. You might actually cause issues if one of them grabs all the best items! How are 5 people going to share a hamper...?

whatisheupto · 10/12/2021 21:02

I don't think it's too much. Sounds lovely and I agree they can just share it out.

2reefsin30knots · 10/12/2021 21:02

I run a specialist setting (2 teachers 7 TAs). We would be very grateful to receive something like this- it's totally not necessary a heartfelt card would be more than enough.

If you do want to send a hamper, I would say coffee/ tea/ herbal tea would be well received as those are gone through very quickly in school. We would most like things that we could keep in the kitchen and eat next term, so biscuits etc rather than things that need to be divvied up and taken home for the holidays.

You are kind and I'm glad your DD is thriving.
