Would this be a welcome gift for my daughter’s school?

My daughter has a lot of teachers (she is in a specialist setting and there is 5 teachers and assistants in the class altogether!)

It’s going to be extremely expensive to buy for them all individually - so I’m putting a together a little hamper.

So far I’ve put in my basket (online); nice coffee, nice hot chocolate, some luxury apple and cranberry sauce condiments, some cheese and garlic twists and nut assortments type snacks, a panettone, a selection of different biscuits (Italian, belgian, shortbread), some fudge/honeycombe/brittle/nougat.

Does this sound okay or am I going to be a complete weirdo sending something like this is as a Christmas gift?!

I have never really had to buy for teachers before so I just tried to think of something that I would like to receive around Christmas time…

Is there anything that I should add or remove?

I buy my kids school a box of crispy crème festive double dozen. They get stuck in the staff room and they are always appreciated.

AwkwardPaws27 · 10/12/2021 21:03

Ditch the condiments & nuts. The rest sounds lovely & break room friendly (or can be divided up and taken home if preferred).

WatchMyLips · 10/12/2021 21:13

It sounds perfect
I don't think the negative Nancy's realise that everyone stays behind to strip boards, clear trays, and generally tidy up for next term. We don't leave any earlier
What a lovely thing to do

I do. I still think it sounds OTT and far too fancy pants. A nice card is better than chucking that much money at a cake they'll just fight over who gets it to regift.
VodselForDinner · 10/12/2021 21:20

I wouldn’t, OP.

It’s a weird one because you’ve gone overboard, then then you’re cheapening the gift by giving it to them to share.

A nice tin of biscuits each, or a £5/10 voucher for a local coffee shop would make much more sense.

LethargicActress · 10/12/2021 21:20

A box of chocolates would be much easier to eat in the classroom as is just for one class. What you’ve described sounds lovely, but really awkward for a classroom.

KatyRebecca84 · 10/12/2021 21:21

Lovely idea ignore the moody people saying it’s OTT! It’s really thoughtful x

Stomacharmeleon · 10/12/2021 21:23

@justamumseekingadvice it's not too much it's lovely. I would and have done the same...I would just advise nothing smelly or nuts (that's what is written on my son's school letter for things coming in)

CheesyFootballsAreEvil · 10/12/2021 21:23

We're not moody, just trying to help OP so they don't give a cringy gift.

DroopyClematis · 10/12/2021 21:24

It sounds amazing but , probably, I'd lose the condiments and chutneys.

Biscuits, posh crisps, and chocolates would be more than enough.

You sound lovely!

Marynotsocontrary · 10/12/2021 21:24

I think it sounds really lovely OP.
Tea/coffee/cake/biscuits/sweets etc always very welcome in our local school staffroom and Covid hasn't seemed to make a difference. I'd leave out the condiments and nuts as others have said.

Stomacharmeleon · 10/12/2021 21:24

It's not cringy.
And I was a teacher.
And have/ had two boys in specialist provision.
It's a lovely thank you!

starrynight19 · 10/12/2021 21:25

Yea agree with those saying stick to finger foods it’s much easier to grab and go.

Marynotsocontrary · 10/12/2021 21:26

Just adding - won't the treats be left in the staffroom? No need to divvy up as such? Or have I got that wrong...

TheCanyon · 10/12/2021 21:29

It sounds lovely but I worry a lot would go to waste, a box of foxs biscuits would go down as well tbh.

Buy deans shortbread, a box of mixed biscuits and a box of nice chocs

Wrenna · 10/12/2021 21:30

I don’t think it’s OTT at all, it sounds like a lovely idea!

careerchangeperhaps · 10/12/2021 21:30

When we had a lot of school staff to buy for I just sent in a gift bag with some nice coffee (instant), teas, fruit teas, instant hot chocolate, posh biscuits etc. for the staff room. It was much appreciated. Things that were quick and easy for staff to access but a bit nicer than their usual stuff.

FreeBritnee · 10/12/2021 21:31

Sounds lovely. Go for it.

HelloDulling · 10/12/2021 21:34

People on here suggest a hamper to be shared by a family as a gift all time, but a hamper for a group who work closely together for hours each day and it’s cringe.

I would take out the condiments and the nuts, keep it to drinks and snacks.

Marvellousmadness · 10/12/2021 21:36

I hate the all parents seem to give hampers
By now they will have received 20 of them already.

Just buy them a gift voucher for coffee and a big box of cookies or something. Way easier the share...

Or how about just a little letter thanking them for what theyve done this year?

TreeLawney · 10/12/2021 21:37

This is a really lovely gift. The best gifts are ones that we can all share in the staff room. You sound very thoughtful. Please ignore all the negative nellies on here.

(Though also know it is completely fine if you can’t / don’t want to get anything. Gifts are never expected.)

Marvellousmadness · 10/12/2021 21:39

Why is everyone on here so anti nuts. Unless op is planning on just throwing handfulls of loose nuts through the hamper; theyll come in a plastic sealed bag. Hmm you dont get a fatal reaction from just looking at nuts you know ...

WhenZoomWasJustAnIceLolly · 10/12/2021 21:43

Why is everyone being so fucking horrible? Cringey? OTT? It’s not too much at all in the context of some of the gifts I’ve seen given and it’s lovely things that can be shared and used rather than another best teacher mug…

OP, you’re doing a lovely thing, totally ignore the people determined to be unpleasant.

Nillynally · 10/12/2021 21:44

I'm a teacher, the staffroom would be over the moon with a present like this! Lovely idea x

R0tational · 10/12/2021 21:44

Xmas Smile Sounds lovely Cake
