Aibu to feel like I'm losing the will to live with my 3 week old fussy baby?

Ds2 is 3weeks old. He sleeps or he cries, there is no awake periods where he seems happy or curious. I am dirty and worn out and I have no time to look after myself.

He fusses over his feeds for 1hour and he wants feeding every 2h. I am bottle feeding him cow&gate but he chokes and spits it out while feeding constantly. I am only using a size 0 mam teat. He alternates between diaherrea and constipation, he has mucus in his poo and he farts constantly and seems in pain. He's also had a cold for 2.5 weeks now and it's always congested. He writhes around when I'm trying to wind him and cries for more food.

I've just put him in his Moses basket and walked away because he hasn't settled since 7pm yesterday.

What the fuck do I do?!

Good luck with the formula change I hope you notice improvements they say give it 2 weeks before you judge whether it suits or not as it can take that long to transition from the old formula fully xx

@Bananapancakes6

I've got the nannycare, going to give it a good go and see how we get on.

One bottle so far and a fair bit thrown back up, he did drain the bottle without fuss however.

Most babies with CMPA are also allergic to goat milk.

Sounds like colic to me. My 6 week old is very fussy and constipated. Have switched to cow and gate comfort formula and seems more settled. Most likely better on the pre mixed formula as it’s thicker. If you do switch to a thicker formula make sure you go up in teat size. Hope he settles soon for you x

@Bananapancakes6

Thanks so much for all the advice so far, really appreciated.

One thing I forgot to note is that he seems better on the premixed formula for some reason, still cries and makes a fuss but not as much as regular powder formula. Is this something to do with the way it is made, does anyone know?

I'm off to big boots in a moment to have a look.

A friend of mine told me that premixed is much better for newborns than powder, we breastfed but her kids are all formula fed so she probably knows her stuff!! Good Luck OP, I hope your partner gets well soon and can relieve you!

@Sweetsaremyfave I honestly don't think it's colic, my first son had colic and it was classic evening screaming and griping. This is all day long, with lots of accompanying weird symptoms.

This is the nappy rash he has, it's like welting peely spots.

Hopefully someone with experience of this will come back with advice. Posting to bump it for you.
How is your baby today ?

Oh poor you Flowers.

The first weeks can be incredibly tough, especially if there are any extra niggles to work through.

Personally, I found that speaking to the GP was a lot more helpful than the health visitor. So please don’t be afraid to contact your doctor for some advice.

As soon as your DH is well enough, try to get out for a bit on your own. You deserve a breather!
