...just when everyone's Xmas dos are being cancelled?
And surely that means we can't trust the media for actual news reporting? But reporting when they strategically decide to?

@EvilRingahBitch

Somebody has been sitting on this and waiting for the time when it would be most damaging to Johnson and at a time when he's already looking very weak. But I don't think it's "the media". Someone from Team Rishi perhaps.
I was coming on to say this.

Go on the BBC Sounds app and listen to the latest episode of The Media Show. It has interviews with the people at the Mirror and ITV who broke the story and released the video. The Mirror journalist said she knew about the story in January but didn't have a solid enough source to run it. Then more recently she managed to get a few decent sources, but hadn't actually typed anything up yet. Then she sat in a press briefing where the government were saying that socialising over Christmas wasn't going to restricted (contrary to comments from Jenny Harries) and she decided they needed to run it straight away.

Just to add, she didn't have one source who had been sitting on this information for a year. She said she had a few different sources.
