AIBU to refuse puppy in my bedroom?

Probably shouldn’t post on here but I’m sleep deprived and so exhausted.

I’ve had dogs before and they’ve always slept downstairs. Obviously, they all required time to settle but I’ve never had a problem like this.

My pup is a delight during the day and a menace all night. I initially slept on the sofa but I keep trying to go back to my bed upstairs and she screams. This isn’t a bit of whining, it’s full on screaming. She can go for hours! The sofa is uncomfortable and I can’t sleep on it so even if she’s quiet because I’m next to her dog bed, I’m wide awake.

Some people say I should bring her into my room but I don’t want to!! My room is very small and I want a tiny bit of sanctuary and space.

I’m getting mixed messages about how to deal with this. Some say sleep on the sofa for longer, some say to nip in the bud or she’ll get used to me being there and won’t ever sleep alone.

AIBU to refuse to entertain the idea of her being in my room? WTF do I do? Even my babies slept better than this. :(

P.S. I love her and I don’t regret her. I’m just tired and I want her to be settled at night. I hate hearing her screaming and she needs sleep too.

When our youngest dog was a pup, we kept his crate in our room. We thought it would be easier to keep an eye on him and take him out for toilet breaks as needed. (Didn't want him going in the crate more than we could help.) He still had one night where he cried for what felt like hours. No amount of reassuring words helped. We fake-snored (which usually worked to tell him it was time to sleep), to no avail! Grin

Other than that, he was fine, though. At some point, we moved his crate to another room, and he was fine with that, from what I can recall. We didn't spoil him by keeping the crate in our room when he was little. Our dogs don't sleep with us, but we do allow them in the bedroom and on the bed, for short periods. They sleep well, 99% of the time.

Basically, I think it depends on the dog and the situation. I'd do what you feel comfortable with.

We just popped our dog in crate very late at night to start -11pm -ignored the little whimpers-it didn’t last long and then got up at 5.30am and didn’t look back.It worked although as our dog got older he was allowed to sleep on the bed once full toilet trained.

My new pup is coming on Saturday and I've bought her a lamb heartbeat soft toy which has a mechanism inside that replicates the heartbeat of a litter mate

My Ddog slept happily downstairs… then decided I needed looking after when I was widowed.,.,
she snores, breaks wind and has barky dreams… the cuddles are worth it though! She wasn’t going to be allowed in the bedroom, but she insisted🙄

I’m definitely not the one to comment on this!

We kept puppy in room for first few months but that was so we could toilet train her… now she’s quite happy downstairs and rarely is allowed upstairs anywhere.
