I want to take my children to HP world but there are no available dates before February 22
AIBU to think I might be able to find a way to score some tickets for dates between 23-31 December?

@girlmom21 sorry which update states which of those two OP is talking about?

girlmom21 · 07/12/2021 07:38

@scrumpledtitskin there's a general direction in which you would walk around it.
It's laid out quite logically (at least pre-covid).
If you have the digital guides it tells you a specific order to view the different exhibits.

You'll probably not take 3 hours to get round to be honest.

Read the full thread. She hasn't needed to be explicit because it's obvious to almost everyone.
If she was planning on going to Harry Potter World in Orlando she'd have planned it a little earlier wouldn't she Hmm

willithappen · 07/12/2021 07:42

@girlmom21 because others have assumed lol. It's really not that hard to just clarify what you mean
Watford is NOT Harry Potter world

It's not that deep.
She's got tickets.
Let it go.

willithappen · 07/12/2021 07:47

@girlmom21 oh honey, I will respond when I like thank you :) makes a very large difference when offering advice on how to navigate the two. And also if kids are avid HP fans I'd wanna avoid telling them it's Harry Potter World when it's not 😅

You are more than welcome to scroll past my posts though and enjoy your day :)

scrumpledtitskin · 07/12/2021 07:49

@girlmom21 and @willithappen

Thank you! That's reassured me.

Op, hope you enjoy it too, we can't wait!

flapjackfairy · 07/12/2021 07:52

I took my 2 dd a couple of weeks ago. It is a great day out but yes avoid the butter beer. One daughter had been before and warned me and it was v amusing to watch peoples faces as they took their first swig. Lots of cringing and funny face pulling.
There were loads of abandoned drinks on every table. So save your money.

anon12345678901 · 07/12/2021 07:58

OP it's great, we've been 3 times and loved it each time! With kids it can get expensive if they want the pictures and souvenirs, a wand was definitely more expensive than I thought it would be 😂

Side note, I call it HP world too, no ones ever gotten confused beforeGrin

Carpetsareforflying · 07/12/2021 08:01

We had to book in December for DD's birthday in July a few years ago and that was without restrictions. By mid Feb the whole year was sold out.

PyjamaMamma · 07/12/2021 08:07

Everyone says butterbeer is foul but I had to try it anyway and I actually loved it Blush

I’m happy you managed to get tickets, OP. It’s an amazing day out.

NMC2022 · 07/12/2021 08:18

@Anordinarymum I went to the forbidden forest trail, it was really good. Just atmospheric as it was dark, sound effects, all the lighting, the woods are beautiful anyway even without a theme and I liked that it wasn't crowded so you had plenty of time. Food was expensive as expected but I had a roast dinner in a Yorkshire pudding which was delicious!

RampantIvy · 07/12/2021 08:19

Oh yes. The shop is horribly expensive.

BrutusMcDogface · 07/12/2021 08:19

I booked mine in May and the first suitable time was October!!

Why don’t you book for next Christmas instead? Something to look forward to!

BrutusMcDogface · 07/12/2021 08:25

I’m so sorry- just saw that you have actually got tickets! Congrats! Grin

I was bitterly disappointed that I spent a fortune on butter beer for all the kids (with the souvenir cups) and they hated it! I’m glad I got the cups, though, as it wasn’t a complete waste of money! 🤣

megletthesecond · 07/12/2021 08:30

Only on MN could someone wonder if a poster was toying with flying over to Orlando for Xmas at short notice.
Of course it's bloomin' Watford.

Abraxan · 07/12/2021 08:31

We like the butter beer.
It's very similar to American Cream Soda, but with a bit of a twist.

girlmom21 · 07/12/2021 08:31

@willithappen oh 'honey' congrats on making yourself look silly again while attempting to make others look silly.

She didn't need your advice because she'd already managed to get tickets so maybe just read the updates in future and stop trying to make others feel small xoxo

fenulla · 07/12/2021 09:17

@girlmom21

Tonic water mixed with watered down orangeade was my takeaway 😂

Look for cancellations, I had a voucher bought for me which expired within a week by the time I remembered I had it. Kept checking and managed to find a spot had come back available for the day before the voucher ran out!

fenulla · 07/12/2021 09:20

@Ubiquery

Do you mean the Harry Potter Studios in Watford or do you mean Harry Potter World in Orlando?

Brilliant!

That would be funny

SisterAgatha · 07/12/2021 09:21

Also I think the butter beer is cream soda! With a butterscotch syrup. And the foam is Mr Whippy before it’s been frozen, when it’s still pourable.

fenulla · 07/12/2021 09:39

@RampantIvy

Butterbeer is very sickly and horribly sweet. It tastes a cross between cream soda and butterscotch. The first mouthful is OK subsequent mouthfuls become more and more sickly. There is a wet waste barrel next to the stall selling it - for good reason Grin

@scrumpledtitskin

For those of you who have been before, we're going on this weekend and our slot is at 4. I've been worrying that we'll have to rush through it? Is it like ikea, in that you go round one way, or can we freestyle? I've been waking in the night stressing about it! It's not helped by having one child who struggles to stay awake past 7pm... 🤦‍♀️
Fwiw I've only heard good things It's going to be lovely Have a great day
