am not as ranty as earlier, so dont worry lol.

child in school so sick he was almost asleep.

keep your kids off school if they are ill. apart from if they arent well they should be at home being looked after by a aprent/guardian, you are also placing my family i na risky situation, and ireally really dont want a hospital admission this year over xmas. because we have spent the last 3 years over the holiday period with dh in hospital.

is that you misdee? i am confused.

FairyTaleOfNewYork · 17/12/2007 17:48

yes it is.

OP posts:
EricScrooge · 17/12/2007 17:52

What do you mean by ill?

It all depends on what they have doesn't it?

I must have missed out on something.........

FairyTaleOfNewYork · 17/12/2007 17:53

he was dozing off in school. very red cheeks, and had that 'really not well' look.

and for those that don't know, dh had a heart transplant over the summer and is immunosuppressed.

pretty much all of the school know this.

DId the school not ask parents to come and get?

VoluptuaGoodshag · 17/12/2007 17:56

I can sympathise. Last year a friend turned up on Xmas Eve at 10.30pm with pressies for the kids and loaded with the flu. We all came down with it on Boxing Day and were in our beds right through until January 5th.

FairyTaleOfNewYork · 17/12/2007 17:57

school play vvv.

i am still wound up slightly, as its something thats come up again and again.

but what can we actually do?

OP posts:
FairyTaleOfNewYork · 17/12/2007 17:57

am considering home education. but feel thats an extreme reaction and not sure i could cope.

VVVExcitedAboutChristmasQV · 17/12/2007 18:06

I vaguely know how you feel. I've mentioned to a parent many times about Dd's peanut allergy.

Yet twice now. TWICE, he's picked up his DD, (who is very friendly with my DD and they often walk home, playing together), and handed her a Snickers

FairyTaleOfNewYork · 17/12/2007 18:11

oh thats really bad VVV.

just really feel like iam banging my head against a brick wall. a pretty big one.

and that nursery headteachers comment from last year still keep going over in my head. about maybe i should take my kdis out of school and not expect everyone else to think about it.

all i want is a bit of social responsibilty. is that too much?

HowTheGibbonStoleChristmas · 17/12/2007 18:14

I feel for you misdee - so helpless in such an important situation

VVV

camillathechicken · 17/12/2007 18:14

what was said last year?

FairyTaleOfNewYork · 17/12/2007 18:17

nursery head (they are at school now) said that if i was that concerned about illnesses then i should take my kids out of school, as they cant expect everyone to think about it.

OP posts:
camillathechicken · 17/12/2007 18:18

surely peter's situation is one worthy of the community taking note of?

Staceym11PipersPiping · 17/12/2007 18:19

oh misdee, people should be more considerate.

but even without your kids being there that child should not be in school

maybe ask the school to send a letter out to parents requesting more thought into the matter?

FairyTaleOfNewYork · 17/12/2007 18:19

you'd think so

but apparently not acording to that head.

think iwill speak to the school again.

but not sure of reactions this time.

feel like i'm making a big fuss.

OP posts:
FairyTaleOfNewYork · 17/12/2007 18:20

the sfchool has been great, it was the nursery where that problem was.

but i have actually mentioned soemthing along these lines before to the childs parent, as dd was invited to a party and he wasnt well, so said we wouldnt be going and explained why.

OP posts:
FairyTaleOfNewYork · 17/12/2007 18:21

am off now to dd1 school play, so will be back later.

dont worry, i do expect some flaming.

will come back with my rhino skin to take the brunt.

OP posts:
leoandmummy · 17/12/2007 18:22

That is shocking. What is the matter with people?? You would expect every parent to feel for you in your situation and be considerate for another child. Why would someone not want their child at home where they can see them if they are sick?

NAB3littlemonkeys · 17/12/2007 18:23

Anyone who flames you ought to be ashamed.

This is what is wrong with our damn world. That people can't put themselves out for one family.

FairyTaleOfNewYork · 17/12/2007 20:28

dd1 play was lovely. no sniffly kids in sight

i just really don't know what to do about the schools/illnesses thing. because ifeel like i am a jammed record, going on and on, but i just cant risk losing him now, not after all this.

OP posts:
IsawKIMIkissingsantaclaus · 17/12/2007 20:39

60 kids were off of DS2s school today, nasty bug. they sent a letter home saying to keep kids off if they are in any way ill

onlyjoking9329 · 17/12/2007 20:48

thing is MD it's not something people think about i wouldn't have thought about it until reading your threads.

onlyjoking9329 · 17/12/2007 20:49

due to you and steve being how he is now i do think about it, but i was unaware before.
if the school know the situation then parents should be more careful

coolkat · 17/12/2007 20:54

I can totally appreciate what you are saying it sounds like you have had a rough deal. On the flip side of the coin sometimes in the morning kiddies are fine and they can turn so quickly. If my dd went to school fine but looked poorly throughout the day I would like to think the teacher would call me.

Wishing you well for christmas. X
