Far to many child abuse cases seem to slip through the net. Child abuse and neglect are both criminal offences, why are they checked out by SW rather than police ?
Surely the police are the experts in criminal enquiries, let them check cases out then the SW get involved later if necessary.

This is just a reaction to the Arthur case. Often happens after a big case in the news.
I will wait till see a detailed analysis of the actual case and where the failings were. My parents are both retired social workers.

The social services visit in April 2020 was promoted after Arthur's paternal grandmother, Joanne Hughes, rang the out-of-hours emergency social services team to report bruising she had seen on the boy's back.
But despite social workers examining him and finding a "faint" yellow bruise, they agreed with Tustin and Hughess_ that it was a "happy household".

Grandmother is blaming step mother. If my son hadn't of lived in with that woman, my grandson would've been alive today. Really? What about accountability for her son?

Hughes, who was not present at the time of the killing but sent a text message to Tustin the previous day telling her to “just end him”, was convicted of manslaughter.

The court heard that Hughes, who admitted he is a “monster”, “relished” inflicting punishment on his defenceless son for minor infractions.

Grandmother was on itv news tonight. She is mixed race? But her daughter is very light skinned with ginger hair. Is it her daughter who is in jail? For 12 years after brutally stabbing her partner?
