To think that £22 to have the ends trimmed is expensive.

Tevion28 · 03/12/2021 14:23

Dry trim just to neaten the ends no layers or fancy cutting

NotSoSkinnyNow · 03/12/2021 14:28

If that is their regular price for a cut, then no, not unreasonable. It will still take the same time/effort to make sure it is evenly cut, washed? dried, finished etc. regardless of whether they're cutting 1cm or 15cm off the length.
You're paying for their time and expertise rather than by the cm.

Tevion28 · 03/12/2021 14:32

It was just a dry cut no wash dry or finish

OneRingToRuleThemAll · 03/12/2021 14:32

It depends where you go. I find the 'haircut for a tenner' places to be awful for my hair and pay £55 whether trim or restyle in a salon.

Tevion28 · 03/12/2021 14:33

Dp get a cut for £8 much more work involved I think womens prices are ridiculous

OP posts:
ChangeChingyChange · 03/12/2021 14:33

Didn't even know a dry cut was a thing. Treat yourself to a proper hair cut and pamper or maybe do it yourself if it's just trimming some ends and you think £22 is a lot.

Men have to go more often though. I have a teen ds and he goes every 6 weeks ish. Tbh he could do with a cut every 4 weeks but I like to stretch it out as long as possible
Jumpingintochristmas · 03/12/2021 14:35

My hairdresser only offers a dry cut for children.

Cut and blow dry £35
Restyle and blow dry £45 plus

VividGemini · 03/12/2021 14:36

Do they have separate pricing for a dry cut?
mercimacherie · 03/12/2021 14:36

I agree that £22 for a basic dry trim is expensive, and seems unfair compared to the average cost of a man's cut.

DeepaBeesKit · 03/12/2021 14:38

Its demand driven. Plenty of women are basically willing to pay as much as the hairdresser wants to charge, in order to have what they seem to be nice hair. If women were less bothered, hairdressers would simply not be able to charge as much, the same way men simply refuse to pay as much

mercimacherie · 03/12/2021 14:39

Also agree with the comments that you might as well pay a bit extra and have a cut and blow dry.

I used to pay £20 for my daughter to have a trim (no hair wash) which i thought was expensive. I had to do it myself through lockdown and found it so quick and easy I've continued to do so.

chelle0 · 03/12/2021 14:39

🤣🤣🤣 my haircut is £70, little trim or not. Maybe you should look at local collages.

Tevion28 · 03/12/2021 14:42

Probably my own fault tbh because it's cheaper when I get the full works meaning a trim, colour wash and blow dry at £85.

MilduraS · 03/12/2021 14:42

It does always seem a lot. I have fine hair and just need the ends cut in a straight line. I pay £48 for a cut and finish though the finish includes having my hair styled in waves. I come out looking like I have twice as much hair as I went in with. I can't complain too much, my hairdresser is a genius at colouring hair and that's the main reason I go to her.

mercimacherie · 03/12/2021 14:43

@chelle0
You pay £70 for just a trim?!

I pay £85 for a cut and colour. I'm up north so appreciate it's probably cheaper up here but no way I'd pay £70 for a cut, unless it's a restyle.

Tevion28 · 03/12/2021 14:46

I never bother with the blow dry my hair is just straight and long and I can wash and dry it myself and get same effect

OP posts:
HW1989 · 03/12/2021 14:47

I have to agree. I never get more than a trim and can’t stand what they charge in salons! Try to find a local hairdresser who will come to your house/go to their house, always much cheaper. I pay £12 for a trim and style, just means you have to sweep up your hair afterwards!

Tevion28 · 03/12/2021 14:47

I only get the blow dry when I've had the colour as well

PooWillyNameChange · 03/12/2021 14:53

Mine charges £14 for a dry cut. I used to get DH to trim mine at home as I resented paying £50 when I hate the washing/faff/waste of time/small talk but in and out for £14 is great.

Ponoka7 · 03/12/2021 14:55

I'm in Liverpool. A dry cut is now £16. A cut and blow £25. I've seen cheaper offers on certain days in other local salons, but I know mine does a good job.

Bigoldhag · 03/12/2021 14:57

About the standard round here.

For the record - former hairdresser.

Our salon HATED dry cuts, the results just are not as good typically and the price was to discourage them too. It makes no odds if you cut half an inch or six inches from long hair, you still have to cut it all.

Typically, I would refuse dry cuts for most hair styles as I knew I couldn’t do my best for many of them and didn’t want my name attached to them Confused

FrankGrillosWrist · 03/12/2021 15:06

Go to your local college. I've paid anything from £1 (a Christmas offer), to £5 for a dry cut. They're the best hair cuts that I've ever had. Although it can take a long, long, time, but they're so much better than qualified hairdressers.

Divebar2021 · 03/12/2021 15:13

A lot of salons don’t offer a trim which I think is a con really. I’m not sure how they justify charging the same for half an inch off a standard long style and a complete re-style. However I pay way over £22….. way over so I wouldn’t complain at that price.

AnybodyAnywhere · 03/12/2021 15:19

I wouldn’t pay that.
I get a colour, cut and a rough dry for £75….90 min appointment….and I’m in the South East.
